While exploring a biome in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you typically map out the area to see your path and find where to go next. This is true for most biomes, except for one called The Mist.
The Mist is the only biome that changes each time you enter it. It doesn’t have its own map, and every room in this area has multiple exits. To find the right way, you need to follow a specific clue.
Where to Find The Mist
You can access The Mist mainly from two biomes: Bilewater and Sinner’s Road. Here’s how you can reach it from each:
- From Sinner’s Road, go up to the top left side of the biome and find a hidden path that leads into Bilewater. This path will eventually bring you to The Mist.
- If you already entered Bilewater from the right side of Sinner’s Road, you can go around to reach the Bellway in Bilewater. From there, go left past a body to enter The Mist.
As you approach The Mist, you’ll notice some bright flies in the room. These will be your helpful guides throughout the biome.
How to Beat The Mist
The Mist is filled with fog, making everything around you barely visible. There are also many spike traps that activate when you stand in certain spots. Move slowly and carefully to succeed in this area.
When you first enter The Mist, your main goal is to look for the bright flies you saw before entering. Usually, there are two or three flies in each room. When you play the Needolin for them for a few seconds, they will lead you to the correct exit.
Sometimes, the flies will cross big spikes or obstacles. If that happens, follow the general direction of the spikes—they’ll lead you to an opening. You’ll also find Silk Spools here, which help restore your Silk supply.
To progress, you need to pick the right exit in three rooms to reach the center of The Mist, and then choose the correct route in three more rooms to leave and reach the Exhaust Organ in Bilewater. This organ activates an elevator that takes you down to the Underworks area, just below Whispering Vaults.
How to Beat Wraiths
The only enemies in The Mist are Wraiths, which are quite challenging. Once a Wraith sees you, it dashes toward your location every few seconds. If it hits you during a dash, you lose two lives and your Silk gets reduced. Avoid getting hit during its dash.
A good way to handle Wraiths is to stand on the ground when they start to scream. Then, press the jump button quickly (not hold it). This move lets you dodge their dash and land a downward strike on them. With two Needle upgrades, you’ll need four hits to defeat each Wraith.
Tip: It’s best to fight only one Wraith at a time. Fighting multiple Wraiths at once makes things much harder.
As you move past the middle of The Mist, the number of Wraiths in the last few rooms will increase significantly. Staying alert and carefully choosing your timing will help you survive.
