When you’re tiny like in Grounded 2, food items look quite different. It could be a cookie crumb, nectar from an aphid, or a chunk of mint candy the size of your head.
But mint isn’t just for eating. It’s versatile for crafting and can even help you unlock a mutation, all while freshening your breath. So, it’s important to learn how to gather the freshest mint pieces you can find.
### Where to Find Fresh Mint
You can find mint shards by smashing fresh mint, which are candy pieces scattered throughout the yard. Mint is present in all parts of the park but is especially common near the Picnic Table, the Snackbar Front, and the Ice Cream Cart. These mint chunks are quite large and easy to spot—they look like big, rigid Yetis.
You can also locate non-renewable mint shards inside containers around the map, such as in labs or on dead bodies.
### How to Bust Fresh Mint
Once you find some fresh mint, you’ll need to smash it to get the shards. This requires at least a level two Omni-Hammer. Upgrading your hammer is simple—you just need a Ladybug Head, three Lingonberry Leathers, and 2,000 Raw Science. The trickiest part is finding Lingonberries, but by the time you’re ready to harvest mint, you’ve likely already come across where they grow.
Busting fresh mint also has a small chance to drop a Suspicious Mint Trinket, which adds extra damage to all your attacks.
### What Are Mint Shards Used For?
Mint shards are among the most common crafting materials, second only to things like grass fibers and sap. They are used to make smoothies, weapons, armor, and building materials for your base. Additionally, mint shards can be eaten. Consuming them helps reduce sizzling buildup, lowers your hunger, and eating 16 of them unlocks the Fresh Defense mutation. This mutation allows you to survive longer in hot environments.
