The main in-game currencies in Ashes of Creation are gold, silver, and copper. Some currencies that are bound to specific accounts can be exchanged for gold or used for other purposes, but earning gold is your primary goal during gameplay.
There are several ways to earn gold in Ashes of Creation, but only a few reliable methods can provide consistent income. In the early phases, you’ll likely need to grind and put in effort, but eventually, you can develop a system to generate a steady flow of money.
How to Earn Gold in Ashes of Creation
Gold plays a significant role in your progress and expansion in the game. It is considered the main currency, unlike Tokens or Glint, which are tied to specific systems. You can use gold to upgrade your equipment, trade, buy items, or pay taxes if you own a house. The main way to earn gold is by collecting Glint dropped by monsters or gained through completing quests and events.
Collecting and Selling Glint
Glint varies in rarity based on the strength of the enemies you defeat or the difficulty of quests and events. You can sell Glint directly if you need quick cash, but this isn’t the most profitable approach. The more effective way is to use your Glint to buy and craft large quantities of goods at Market Commodity Stations within settlements. These crates of goods can be sold either directly to settlement vendors or sent via caravans to other settlements for higher profits. Sending caravans involves risk because they can be attacked during travel unless protected by you or your guild.
Joining a guild caravan can provide protection and a chance to earn a larger portion of the profits. High risk comes with high rewards, especially if you work with others to defend your caravans.
Farming Gold Through Artisan Skills
Using your Artisan talents—such as gathering, processing, and crafting—allows you to produce and sell goods. This method requires investing time and resources but is generally safer and involves less combat or PvP encounters. Improving your Artisan skills and understanding the resources and items needed by different settlements is essential. Higher-level nodes also offer greater profit opportunities.
Some of the most profitable artisan professions include:
- Mining
- Hunting
- Fishing
- Herbalism
- Tanning
- Metalworking
- Weaving
- Weapon Smithing
- Alchemy
Selling High-Quality Items
A key strategy is to identify resources or items that specific settlements need. By focusing on gathering, processing, and crafting high-quality goods, you can create a cycle that produces valuable items. These are especially profitable when sold to nodes lacking that resource, as they will pay premium prices compared to nearby settlements.
It’s important to monitor local economies for demand spikes and sell your goods when prices are high. Developing a continuous cycle of resource collection and item creation, particularly for high-tier products, can simplify making a profit by catering to settlements that require those goods.
