If you’re seeking a simple Pokémon game where completing your Pokédex won’t take forever, Pokémon Legends: Z-A offers a good balance. To catch all 230 Pokémon species in the main game, you’ll need a range of Poké Balls to make capturing easier.
Fortunately, Pokémon Legends: Z-A reduced the price of all Poké Balls by about half, making them more affordable than before. However, you’ll have to visit different stores and take on tough battles to find every type of Poké Ball in the game.
What Does Each Type of Poké Ball Do?

Where to Find These Pokémon Balls
There are several ways to get Poké Balls in Pokémon Legends: Z-A:
- Purchase them from the Poké Ball Boutique or Pokémon Centers.
- Find them scattered on the ground in the game world (inside Poké Balls).
- Earn them as rewards from Mable’s research, missions, ranked battles, or the Infinite Z-A Royale (post-game).
Although most common Poké Balls are now easier to obtain because shops sell them at lower prices, some of the more exclusive or rare varieties are only available through events or rewards.
Locations to Get Poké Balls
The easiest way to buy most types is at the Poké Ball Boutique on Autumnal Avenue. Some special Poké Balls can only be earned by winning online ranked battles.
Here are some specific locations and methods:
- Poké Ball from Pokémon Centers and side missions like #2 and #19.
- Great Ball from Pokémon Centers and wild zones 2-10, 13.
- Ultra Ball from Pokémon Centers, missions #40, 54, 77, and wild zones 10-17, 19.
- Master Ball as a reward for completing the Pokédex (all 230 Pokémon) or from Infinite Royale.
- Dive Ball from wild zones 7, 10-13, side mission #55, or bought at the Boutique.

- Other special balls like Love, Moon, Nest, Net, Luxury, etc., are earned through rewards such as Infinite Royale, side missions, or bought at the boutique.
Buying in Bulk
You can buy multiple Poké Balls at once by selecting the amount before confirming your purchase. Remember that some of the most desirable Poké Balls are limited and exclusive to certain events, so use them wisely on Pokémon you really want in specific types of balls. Many of these special balls are limited and might not become available again, so it’s best to save them for Pokémon that truly benefit from their unique effects.
