Recent Update in Roblox’s Grow a Garden: The Corrupt Mutation
With the latest update to the Zen Event in Grow a Garden, there’s a new mutation called Corrupt. To unlock all new rewards in the Zen content, you’ll need to collect plenty of Corrupt fruits. So, how do you get this new mutation?
How to Get the Corrupt Mutation
Like the Tranquil mutation, there are several ways to obtain the Corrupt mutation. Sometimes, it might seem impossible if you log in at the wrong time. Here’s what you need to know.
Corrupt Zen Aura Event
The Event Details
Every hour, the usual Zen Aura event might be replaced by the Corrupted Zen Aura event. This weather effect lasts ten minutes and behaves the same way each time. During this event, red balls of light shoot out from the center of the map where the Corrupted Zen is located. This causes fruits in your garden to become Corrupt.
You can tell when it’s happening because the weather around the map will show leaves and strange clouds forming a cylinder shape. If the sky is red, it’s the Corrupt Zen Aura event; if it’s blue, it’s a regular Zen Aura event.
Getting the Corrupt Pet Mutation, Spray, or Staff
Pet Mutation Shard: Corrupted
You might not know if a pet has a Corrupt ability naturally, but you can buy a Pet Mutation Shard called “Corrupted” from the Zen Shop using Chi or Robux (289 Robux). Using this shard on a pet will turn it red and allow it to apply the Corrupt mutation to fruits every 24.45 minutes.
Note: It’s likely you need to grow the Zen Channeller’s tree seven times to unlock this item in the shop. Purchasing with Robux bypasses this requirement.
You can also get the Corrupt Mutation via the Pet Mutation machine, but there’s only a 3.02% chance of success.
Mutation Spray: Corrupt
The Corrupt Mutation Spray can be used once on crops to give them the Corrupt mutation. You can earn this spray as a reward from the Corrupt Channeller by upgrading the tree with shackles or specific fruits he requests. The chance of receiving this reward is about 8.7%.
Corrupt Staff
There’s also an approximately 8.7% chance to earn a Corrupt Staff from the same Channeller. We don’t have all the details yet, but it’s expected that like other staff items, this will increase the number of Corrupt mutations and will despawn after a set number of uses.
How to Identify If Your Fruit Is Corrupt
Signs of a Corrupt Fruit
To check if a fruit is Corrupt, highlight it and look below its name. Corrupt fruits will look abnormal—off-color—and emit red sparks and smoke. Crops with the Corrupt mutation tend to have a multiplier of about 20 based on test results.
Additionally, you can purchase three Corrupt Radars from the Zen Shop for 18 Chi. These radars will automatically harvest all ripe Corrupt crops that aren’t marked as favorites.
Uses for Corrupt Fruits
Trading with the Kitsune
Tranquil Fruits can be traded with the Kitsune located in the center of the map. When you trade equal amounts of Tranquil and Corrupt fruits, the circle on either side of the Kitsune will fill, and you’ll receive a Kitsune Chest as a reward.
It’s possible that the Corrupt Channeller might request Corrupt fruits as well, but he has only asked for Tranquil fruits so far. We will update this info once his requests change.
