How to Finish Dack in Mewgenics: Solving the Battle

Welcome to the second part of Mewgenics, where everything is more dangerous. Some enemies are so fast you can’t get close, and others will instantly kill you if you’re within reach. If you thought the first part was a tough challenge, get ready for even more. With a bit of knowledge, smart strategy, and some luck, you can survive the hot Desert and reach new areas.

First, you’ll need to defeat Dack, one of the mini-bosses in this region. Dack is tricky — he seems to dodge everything, steals your coins, and poisons your units. It feels like the Desert doesn’t want us here, but we need stronger cats with special skills, and there’s no stopping us now, not even this quick-moving, knife-throwing thief.

Dack Overview

Dack is a mid-boss in the Desert area, which marks the start of the second act. While he has only a few moves like many bosses, his tricks are much harder to handle, and he deals more damage than those before him. Prepare for a tough fight; he’s a real handful.

But, as always, we’ll show you our best units and tell you about Dack. He’s a big step up in difficulty but not impossible or unfair. Once you learn his tricks, you’ll make quick work of him — he’s just a threat you can handle, if you see his patterns.

Stay with the classic team of Thief, Tank, Hunter, and Cleric. They’ll work well against Dack. Use your Thief to bait out his evasion and teleport behind him for a deadly attack. The Hunter can force Dack to use his backflips with weaker shots, then land heavy hits. The Tank can absorb the tough attacks and draw his attention, while the Cleric keeps everyone healthy.

How to Beat Dack

Unlike most bosses, Dack has many moves, which makes him frustrating. He can dodge, poison, and run away, making him seem unpredictable. But you can counter him by making him reveal his moves early and punishing him repeatedly.

Dack’s Abilities

Throwing Knife: Dack throws a sharp blade across the tiles in any direction, causing decent damage. Since there’s no cover, block him with your Tank to absorb the hit. Also, he can make you drop coins on the ground, which we’ll cover later. Try to grab these coins quickly before he does and use them against him.
Coins: When you get hit by the knife, Dack will prioritize grabbing your coins. These coins recharge his backflips, letting him dodge attacks. If he can’t get your coins, he can’t avoid attacks, so pick up any coins he knocks loose to keep him vulnerable.
Poison Stab: When he’s close, Dack might stab with a poisoned dagger, poisoning your units. Keep your Cleric nearby to heal the poison damage. Use your Tank to block or intercept Dack to prevent him from landing this move.

Baitting and Punishing Dack

Your turn is next. Since Dack dodges often, you want to bait his backflip move and then punish him. Have your Hunter throw a weak shot (like a filler attack) to force Dack to dodge. Once he’s rolled away, use your stronger abilities to hit him while he’s vulnerable. Abilities like Familiars — Fleas and others — can attack him and cause him to use his backflips.

If your Thief has a projectile, such as their own throwing knife, move directly in front of Dack and attack. If he backs out with a backflip, teleport behind him and deal your biggest damage. Repeat this process to quickly drain his health.

Coins Give Dack Extra Backflips

Whenever Dack hits you with his Throwing Knife, try to recover any coins he knocked out. These coins can restore his backflips, allowing him to dodge your attacks even more. If he can’t pick up coins, he can’t evade, making him easier to hit. Use this to your advantage by targeting coins before he reaches them, so he’s left vulnerable.

Poison Stab

When he gets close, Dack might use a Poison Stab. He’ll plunge a poisoned knife into your unit, poisoning them with ongoing damage. Keep your Cleric ready to heal or cure poison, and use your Tank to block or draw this attack away from your fragile units. Even if he hits, this move won’t end your run if you manage your team well.
