A map isn’t available right at the start of Silksong, but you can buy one from a merchant named Shakra, just like in the original game. The maps in Silksong work the same way — you don’t get the complete map all at once. Instead, you buy parts of it, each covering a different area, and then you fill in the details through exploration. To help navigate, you’ll also need the Compass and Quill. Below, I’ll tell you how to unlock the map, where to find Shakra, and how maps function in the game.
How to get a map in Silksong
The map is sold by Shakra, who first appears in The Marrow. When you meet her, she sells you two different maps that cover the areas you’ve found so far. As you move forward in the game, Shakra will show up in new regions with new maps to sell. Keep an ear out for her loud singing—she’s easy to spot when she’s nearby.
Where to find Shakra the Map Merchant
To find Shakra for the first time, follow the route through The Marrow shown in the map. You won’t have the map yet, but the image above can serve as a helpful guide to follow her path. When you first reach her, she’ll sell you several items, including different maps and tools to help with navigation.
Items Shakra sells
Item | Cost (Rosaries) | Description |
---|---|---|
Mosslands Map | 40 | Unlocks the map for Moss Grotto |
Marrow Map | 50 | Unlocks the map for The Marrow |
Quill | 50 | Lets you add details to your map after resting at a bench |
Compass | 70 | Shows your location on the map |
Bench Pins | 60 | Marks benches and resting spots on the map |
Shell Markers | 40 | Adds pins you can place manually on the map |
And from there, Shakra will reappear in other regions for you to buy more maps—just make sure you have enough Rosaries to pay her. You can also explore nearby areas, like heading up from her location to face some of the early Silksong bosses or going left to check out the Mosshome area, where you’ll find the Druid who wants three Silksong Mossberries.
