Creating elemental weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds is crucial for smoother endgame advancement. To craft certain Water and Thunder weapons, you’ll need items like the Aqua Sac. Unfortunately, obtaining Aqua Sacs can be challenging, as they are a rarer item that drops from only two specific monsters.
However, once you know the right approach, gathering Aqua Sacs becomes a manageable, albeit time-consuming, task. This guide will direct you on where to find these valuable items and which monsters to target in your quest for powerful weaponry!
Where to Find Aqua Sacs
The Aqua Sac is a unique crafting material. You can only acquire it as a quest reward for defeating or capturing a Balahara or an Uth Duna. It cannot be obtained through carving or breaking the monsters’ parts, and the drop rate for Aqua Sacs is relatively low compared to other materials.
Here are the drop rates for obtaining the Aqua Sac:
Monster |
Type |
Habitat |
Aqua Sac Drop Rate |
---|---|---|---|
Balahara |
Leviathan |
Windward Plains |
18% chance |
Uth Duna |
Leviathan |
Scarlet Forest |
16% chance |
You’ll first encounter Balahara in Chapter 1-4 during the assignment titled Balahara of the Sandsea. In Chapter 1-5, you will battle Uth Duna without killing it during the mission A Feast in the Deep.
To farm either of these monsters, visit Alma and start the Optional Quest Sand Sea Surges for Balahara or Veiled by the Tide for Uth Duna.
Aqua Sac is classified as a Low Rank reward, meaning you cannot farm it in High Rank quests or regions after finishing the Low Rank story. To access Low Rank quests and their respective areas, you must participate in those specific quests.
Among the two monsters, farming Balahara in the one-star quest Sand Sea Surges is advisable. This is primarily because, as an early game quest, the gear you possess will easily surpass its attacks and defense.
Being over-equipped allows for a quick hunt of Balahara, keeping the quest time to just a few minutes. Additionally, since Uth Duna is a larger monster with a lower chance of dropping an Aqua Sac, it is less efficient to target it instead.
Crafting with Aqua Sacs
Aqua Sacs, being a Low Rank material, can only be used to create equipment up to Rarity 4. To craft items of Rarity 5 or higher, you must first create the lower-rarity versions using materials like Aqua Sacs.
Here are some items you can create with Aqua Sacs:
- Balahara Vambraces (Armored piece): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
- Balahara Blade I (Sword and Shield): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
- Guild Knight Sabers I (Dual Blades): Requires two Aqua Sacs plus other materials.
- Balahara Hammer I (Hammer): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
- Balahara Horn I (Hunting Horn): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
- Balahara Lance I (Lance): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
- Balahara Exploder I (Gunlance): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
- Balahara Glaive I (Insect Glaive): Requires one Aqua Sac plus other materials.
If you’re aiming to craft everything that needs an Aqua Sac, you’ll need a total of nine. Depending on your luck and dedication, this could take anywhere from half an hour to forty-five minutes if you target Balahara with top-tier gear.
However, if you’re farming Aqua Sacs with low or mid-tier equipment, be prepared for each hunt to last at least seven minutes or more.
Our initial attempt with a Greatsword took about eight minutes as we got accustomed to the fight. Knowing the Balahara’s patterns and using more advanced gear could easily reduce that time.
