Gathering resources is a key part of playing Hytale since you need materials to craft various items. Among these, you’ll find special petals: Blood, Azure, and Storm petals. They aren’t your common flower petals — they sound cooler and are harder to find. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get them.
Note: As Hytale is still in early access, some details may change. Also, map locations are approximate and vary from player to player; they’re meant to give you an idea of where to search.
How to Get Blood Petals
Blood petals come from Bloodcap Mushrooms, Blood Leaves, and Blood Roses. If the name includes “blood,” it’s likely what you’re after. To collect petals, you need to hit these items; slashing them will drop petals, but pressing “F” prompts the game to pick up the whole object instead.
Locations for Blood Petal Items:
- Bloodcap Mushroom
Found in the Emerald Grove Zone within areas of red or green forests, often near glowing mushrooms. They grow on logs or the ground, usually in darker parts of the forest.
- Blood Leaf
Located in the green forests of the Emerald Grove, especially in the red forest areas there. These leaves grow on plants in the forest and often appear with blood-red hue. They also spawn in Whisperfrost Frontiers and Howling Sands zones.
- Blood Rose
Found in the Frostmarch Tundra biome, which is the yellow-green region between the Emerald Grove and Winterfrost Frontier. These roses grow in areas between snowy and forest zones.

How to Get Azure Petals
Azure petals are dropped by Azure Kelp, Azurecap Mushrooms, and Azure Ferns. Again, hitting these items yields petals; avoid pressing “F.” You’ll find these items in various water-rich or forest zones:
- Azure Kelp
Found within the Blue Forests on the map, these forests contain water bodies where kelp grows. Look in the Azure Forests, especially near water.
- Azurecap Mushroom
These mushrooms grow in the Emerald Grove Zone, typically in green or red forests and sometimes in the water. Nearby water bodies or damp areas are common spots.
- Azure Fern
These plants grow underwater in the Howling Sands Zone. Look in bodies of water within or at the edge of the desert area.

How to Get Storm Petals
Storm petals drop from Storm Saplings, Storm Thistle, and Stormcap Mushrooms. You must hit these to retrieve petals; don’t press “F.” You’ll find these in the following locations:
- Storm Saplings
Usually grow high up in the Howling Sands Zone, especially near the edges or in elevated areas. Look for them in rocky or sandy regions.
- Storm Thistle
Often at the boundary of Emerald Grove and Howling Sands, particularly among trees or on raised ground.
- Stormcap Mushrooms
Found in the Howling Sands Zone or on its outskirts. They usually grow on or under rocks in high or dry areas.

Uses of Blood, Azure, and Storm Petals
All these petals are essential for crafting potions at the Alchemist’s Workbench:
- Blood Petals are used in health potions.
- Azure Petals are for energy potions.
- Storm Petals go into stamina potions.
