With the Mega Dimension DLC added, you can find and catch Spoink and Grumpig in Pokémon Legends: Z-A in two specific ways. Fans of Generation Three will recognize this small family of Psychic-type pigs from the Hoenn region. They can add more variety to your team as you progress.
To find Spoink and Grumpig, you need to use the special mechanics introduced with the DLC. Unlike in the regular game in Lumiose City, these Pokémon are located in Hyperspace Wild Zones, which you access through the DLC’s new features. This quick guide will help you locate Spoink and Grumpig quickly.
How to Get Spoink and Grumpig
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A with the DLC, Spoink appears in one-star Psychic-type Hyperspace Wild Zones. Grumpig, on the other hand, shows up in four-star Psychic Wild Zones.
You can start finding Spoink early in the story once one-star Wild Zones unlock. The four-star Wild Zones, which are needed for Grumpig, won’t become available until you finish ‘Hyperspace Mission 11: Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No.6’.

If you don’t want to wait to catch Grumpig, you can instead catch a Spoink and evolve it. To do this, raise a Spoink caught at Level 19 to at least Level 32. Using Exp Candies is the fastest way—about seven Exp Candies of type M will level up Spoink from 19 to 32, allowing it to evolve into Grumpig.
Finding Spoink and Grumpig
Spoink is easy to find in Hyperspace Wild Zones by spotting its small ears and spherical orb on its head. Grumpig is larger and notable for its curved pig ears sticking out, making it easier to identify. Keep in mind, the spawn rates are fairly high, so as long as you use plenty of Ultra Balls, catching them should be simple without battles.
Once in the Wild Zone, you’ll need to repeatedly rest at benches to reroll Pokémon spawns. The best spot for this is the Nouveau Café fast travel point in Lumiose City, where a bench is conveniently located behind the station. Rest at the bench repeatedly and look out for Spoink or Grumpig’s silhouettes each time they appear, especially focusing on Grumpig’s distinctive pig ears.
Entering the Wild Zone for each attempt is straightforward: among the respawned Pokémon, keep an eye out for Spoink and Grumpig. The key is patience and using the bench to refresh spawns as needed.

Another tip: If you haven’t caught a Spoink by the time the four-star Wild Zones open, there’s a good chance you’ll find one or two spawned naturally near Grumpigs. Sometimes Spoinks will appear clustered with Grumpigs, especially in zones where these Pokémon are more common.
How to Spot the Right Wild Zone
Because Arrival and respawning in Wild Zones can be random, you may need to try multiple times. Rest at benches repeatedly to get better spawn chances. The fastest method is to fast-travel to the Nouveau Café spot, where you can quickly refresh Pokémon spawns right behind the station.
Each time you respawn, scan the zone carefully for Spoink or Grumpig. Spoink’s tiny ears and spherical head orb are easy to recognize, while Grumpig’s larger size and pig ears make it more obvious once it spawns.

Remember, both Spoink and Grumpig have high catch rates in these Wild Zones, so with enough Ultra Balls, you’ll likely catch them easily without battles. Keep trying at the bench until you find the Pokémon you’re after.
