Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur are new additions to Pokémon Legends: Z-A through the Mega Dimension DLC. These Ice- and Dragon-type Pokémon form a full evolution line that is considered one of the hardest to find in the game. Players might think Frigibax would start appearing randomly in the Hyperspace Wild Zones during the story, like Hoenn starters such as Mudkip, but the process is more complicated.
Not only are Frigibax and its evolutions available only late in the DLC, but their appearance depends on chance, making the hunt even tougher. If you’re trying to complete your Hyperspace Pokédex in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC, this guide will explain where to find Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur and what steps to take.
### How to Get Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can only catch Frigibax and its evolutions—Arctibax and Baxcalibur—in Level 200, five-star Hyperspace Wild Zones. These zones are identified using the ‘special scan’ feature, which you unlock after finishing ‘Side Mission 188: Start Special Scanning.’
This scanning feature is available post-story, given by Corbeau from the Rust Syndicate. He asks you to analyze more unknown Hyperspace zones, which unlocks stronger Pokémon and battles.
Once you’ve completed the story of the DLC, starting the day after you defeat and catch Rayquaza, you’ll be able to access these special zones. The mission to unlock Frigibax and Baxcalibur only opens after finishing the final story mission, Hyperspace Mission 17: The Greatest Gift.
### Finding the Right Wild Zone
Once five-star Hyperspace Zones are unlocked in the Mega Dimension, locating Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur is still uncertain. The zones that appear after each scan are random, meaning you could encounter other Pokémon or different types of zones, such as Battle Zones or Wild Zones filled with Grass-types, instead of the desired Ice- or Dragon-types.
You may need to try multiple scans before encountering the right zone. On our third attempt, we found a Hyperspace Wild Zone with Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur. For each scan, you must earn 25,000 Research Points by completing challenges in Hyperspace Zones. Then, Philippe will perform a new scan for either a Hyperspace Battlezone or Wild Zone, both of which are randomly generated.
While these zones may not always contain the Pokémon you’re after, they still provide battle and catch challenges that yield enough points to make future attempts easier. Look out for a five-star Hyperspace Wild Zone with a Dragon typing and the silhouette of Frigibax, as that indicates all three evolutions may be available to catch.
### Catching Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur
The spawn locations of these Pokémon within the Wild Zone can vary. They may appear grouped together or spaced apart, depending on the area. To maximize your chances, bring Hoopla along, equipped with a five-star donut and enough survey time, so you can explore the entire zone and engage in battles simultaneously.
Among the three, it’s best to prioritize catching Frigibax since its catch rate is lower. Arctibax and Baxcalibur are even more difficult to catch. Catching Frigibax allows you to evolve it later to complete the Pokédex entries for all three without having to hunt for the rarer ones again. Running out of time due to repeated failed attempts can mean having to earn 25,000 Research Points anew for each try.
### How to Evolve Frigibax and Arctibax into Baxcalibur
If you can’t find Baxcalibur in the wild, you can still add it to your Pokédex by evolving Frigibax and Arctibax. Frigibax evolves into Arctibax at Level 35, and Arctibax evolves into Baxcalibur at Level 54. Pokémon caught in five-star Hyperspace Wild Zones typically reach around Level 54, so they should evolve immediately after catching.
Select ‘Evolve’ on the Pokémon to transform Frigibax into Baxcalibur once it hits Level 54. This way, you can complete your Pokédex and have one of the toughest Pokémon from the DLC in your collection without having to find Baxcalibur directly in the wild.
