How To Find and Evolve Chespin in Pokémon Legends: Z-A Through Completing and Solving

Chespin’s evolutionary line makes a return to the Kalos region in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This popular grass-type starter gets a Mega Evolution this time, but only Chespin itself can be found in the wild. If you want to see its Mega form, you’ll need to find its final evolution, Chesnaught, which can be tough and requires effort.

Although side quests will give you at least one Chespin, later in the game, you’ll have more chances to find one if you’re not satisfied with what you’ve received so far. Rarer Pokémon like Chespin are difficult to find, often requiring multiple resets and persistent searching until you encounter one.

No matter how you get a Chespin, it only needs to reach Level 36 to evolve into Chesnaught.

### How to Complete A Feisty Chespin

After unlocking side missions, you can complete quests to receive the three starter Pokémon from the original Kalos games. One of these, Side Mission 007: A Feisty Chespin, is located on Hibernal Avenue near Restaurant Le Wow.

You’ll see a Chespin in front of a blue car. Talk to the taxi driver observing the scene, who will tell you that this Chespin is eager to fight a car or faint trying. Accept the challenge to help Chespin prove itself.

To finish this mission, you will need to defeat Chespin three times. It’s recommended to use a strong Flying or Fire-type Pokémon to make the battle easier. Once Chespin is defeated, the taxi driver will step in. As a reward, Chespin will gladly join your team at Level 14.

### How to Catch Chespin

Later in the game, you gain access to Wild Area 17. When entering from the south, you’ll see numerous holes in the ground. Most are filled with Diggersby, but sometimes one may contain a Chespin — a rare sight.

You can identify which holes have Chespin by looking into them with your camera. Diggersby holes show three white points in the center, while Chespin holes have three green points. If you don’t see a Chespin, you can reset the area by flying back to Area 17 — each flight resets the holes, giving you a fresh chance to find one.
