When you take on the mission from Shani, your goal is to find and defeat a Leaper. If you haven’t encountered one before, it might seem intimidating. Preparing ahead of time will definitely boost your chances of success. Use weapons that fire heavy ammo, like the Anvil, or even better—try using the Hullcracker.

Even if you’ve faced a Leaper before and collected a Leaper Pulse Unit, Shani wants you to do it again. To locate a Leaper, look for areas with a lot of Arc resistance. The best spots are around the middle of the Spaceport, the abandoned villages and orchard at Blue Gate, and near the solar panels in the southern parts of the Buried City. There’s no guarantee they’ll appear every time, but trying your luck during the Matriarch event can increase your chances.
Sometimes, Shani will call in a Leaper as reinforcements, and you can lure one away from the main fight to make it easier to handle.
Leapers are large, spider-like machines that will literally jump at you. Be cautious and quick to escape once they notice you. Aim for their legs; hitting them can throw them off balance and reduce how effectively they jump. Their armor takes a few shots to break through but helps lower the threat they pose. Alternatively, aim for the eye in the center of their head. A good shot will send the Leaper flying, giving you some breathing room. Keep your distance, since Leapers emit a damaging energy pulse and can attack with rockets when jumping.
When you break the Leaper’s armor and defeat it, it will explode into multiple parts. These parts can be looted for valuable resources, so move swiftly to pick everything up and head to the nearest extraction point. Don’t forget to grab the Leaper Pulse Unit for Shani!
Keep the Pulse Unit in your safe pocket to ensure you return with it for the quest.
