The three Generation 3 starter Pokémon—Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert—are now available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, after initially not appearing in the game’s main story. To find Sceptile specifically, you first need to catch Treecko, which becomes available once you’ve advanced significantly in the Mega Dimension DLC’s main storyline.
### How to Get Treecko
Treecko begins appearing in Hyperspace Dimension Wild Zones after you’ve completed the fourth Hyperspace Rogue Mega Battle in the DLC. When you reach this point, all three Gen 3 starters should show up in these Hyperspace Zones. Although they won’t be listed in the Wild Zone summary because they are not yet registered in your Pokédex, you’ll be able to recognize their silhouettes. If Treecko isn’t visible, try resting on a bench to refresh the Hyperspace Zones, as they reset daily with the day/night cycle.
Once you find a Wild Zone with Treecko, prepare a donut with Ansha that has at least the same star rating as the zone before entering. You can encounter multiple groups of Treecko and catch them. If you’re aiming for a shinier or Alpha version, you can reset the spawns by walking away to cause the spawn groups to refresh, but keep an eye on the time limit.
### How to Evolve Treecko into Sceptile
Treecko evolves into Grovyle at level 16, and then into Sceptile at level 36, both through straightforward leveling. The evolution process is simple: level up Treecko by gaining experience. Once it reaches level 16, it will evolve into Grovyle, and at level 36, it will become Sceptile.
Here is a quick summary:
– Treecko: Grass type, evolves into Grovyle at level 16
– Grovyle: Grass type, evolves into Sceptile at level 36
– Sceptile: Grass type, can Mega Evolve using a Sceptilite Mega Stone
– Mega Sceptile: Grass/Dragon type
### How to Get the Sceptilite Mega Evolution Stone
Currently, Sceptilite is not available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The Mega Evolution Stones for the Gen 3 starters, including Sceptilite, can only be obtained through online ranked battles using the Link Play feature.
The first Mega Stone for these starters to be featured will be Sceptilite, which will be awarded in Season 5 after Season 4, which gives out Baxcalibrite. Season 5 begins on January 7th, 2025, at 10 p.m. PST. After that, the Mega Stones for Swampert and Blaziken will be distributed in subsequent seasons, specifically at the end of Season 6 and Season 7, respectively. The specific rank needed to earn these stones has not been revealed yet, but it is expected to be accessible to most players based on previous trends.
