Fighting for freedom in Helldivers 2 is dangerous. Many monsters will come from the shadows to stop your mission to free planets across the galaxy. But with the right weapons and tactics, you can take them down. This guide will focus on the Dragon Roaches found on hive planets, particularly on the Gloom sector.
There’s more to watch out for than just normal bugs in combat. Stay alert and look to the sky. Here are effective tips for defeating these giant enemies, but remember, taking them on alone requires skill and preparation.
Where To Find Dragon Roaches
Dragon Roaches are new enemies introduced in the latest update. They are very noticeable once you’re in the terminid sector on a hive planet. Usually, you’ll see one or more overhead, spraying poison. These creatures aren’t common at lower difficulty levels but become more frequent starting around level five or six.
When you hear a loud screech, a Dragon Roach will swoop down into combat. These big threats are very dangerous, so you need to be ready if you want to survive an encounter with one.

How To Kill Dragon Roach Terminids
The best way to deal with Dragon Roaches is to bring a powerful exo suit, like the Patriot. It provides plenty of ammunition and acts as armor to protect against their acid sprays. While you can survive without it, staying alert and dodging to the side when they spray is often enough.

The Dragon Roaches are like the Illuminate Stringray ships in terms of threat level. They are biological creatures, so they can be hit easily by lasers, bullets, and other weapons. Unlike heavily armored ships, these enemies aren’t as tough to damage.
Aim for their heads to deal the most damage. Using a Quasar blast can bring one down quickly. Laser cannons can tear apart their wings if you aim carefully, but delivering a solid hit with bullets or explosives generally works best. Recoilless rifles and Spears are particularly effective options for heavy damage.
Once enough damage is inflicted, the Dragon Roach will fall to the ground. Keep alert, though—if you see one, there’s likely more nearby. Stay ready to move and attack when the opportunity arises.
