Helldiver’s 2 latest update is here, and it’s time to fight the Automatons. Players are invading the planet Cyberstan, home to these socialist robots. Just like with the invasion of the Terminid planet, this group won’t give up easily when you try to spread democracy.
Of the three new Automaton enemies added, the Vox Engine is far the deadliest. It’s a huge rolling tank that shoots propaganda and blasts lots of explosions across the battlefield, making it hard to handle. Luckily, the tank has a clear weak spot that you can target if you’re brave enough to go directly at the Vox Engine.
How to Destroy the Vox Engine
When it comes to taking down the Vox Engine, all you need is a good primary weapon and a grenade. To defeat this enemy, get underneath the vehicle and shoot the large, orange glowing weak spot on its underside. Then, move behind it and shoot the two lower glowing weak spots to expose a vent at the back.
Once the vent is open, throw a grenade directly into it to instantly destroy the Vox Engine. Alternatively, you can aim for three weak spots on the top half of the tank to open a vent on the top. Throwing a grenade into this vent will also destroy it, but it’s a bit trickier because the top rotates, making it harder to arc a grenade into the vent.
Keep in mind, the Vox Engine is heavily armed with mortars, machine guns, and auto-cannons. It can cause a lot of damage very quickly, making it dangerous to approach. To handle this, consider using the Shield Generator Pack or Warp Pack stratagems to get close safely.
Use the environment of Cyberstan—like roads, alleys, and trenches—to approach the tank from angles that keep you safe. The Vox Engine usually appears in higher difficulty levels, and there can be several at once, so plan your attack accordingly.
If you prefer fighting from afar, you’ll find it tough to damage the Vox Engine with explosives. Weapons like the Recoilless Rifle, Expendable Anti-Tank, or Quasar Cannon won’t do much unless you land a direct hit. The new Leveller weapon takes two shots to destroy the tank with a direct hit.
Orbital Stratagems and Other Tactics
For orbital attacks, the Orbital Laser, Bastion MK XVI, and Emancipator Exosuit work well against this automaton. But using the mech will cost about a third of your ammo for both cannons, which isn’t ideal. Anti-Tank Mines can also be effective but limit your movement because they’ll explode if you step on them. They’re useful for clearing the area of automaton troops, especially during defense or exfiltration missions.
Ultimately, the quickest way to take down the Vox Engine is to target its weak spots and throw a grenade inside. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s effective and helps you conserve resources for other threats.
