After finishing the first chapter of “Where Winds Meet” and leaving Qinghe, you’ll find a whole new area to explore in Kaifeng. This new region offers fresh quests, treasures, and the chance to face World Bosses like the Twin Lions.
The Twin Lions fight takes place in Gracetown. It features an energetic lion dance performance, complete with balancing on pillars and fireworks. If you need help defeating this boss, here’s everything you should know.
Twin Lions Boss Location
The Twin Lions are located in Gracetown, in the southeastern part of Kaifeng. Head south from the North Gracetown Boundary Stone until you see the lion dance show—this is where the fight begins.
Twin Lions Boss Fight Walkthrough
The Twin Lions are among the toughest bosses in the game right now, mainly because of their strong attacks and unpredictable moves. During their animations, they make slight movements, which often leads to mistimed parries and late dodges, making the fight more challenging.
Many of their attacks include fireworks. One common move involves the lions swiping diagonally while firing fireworks, causing damage in a wide area. You can parry this attack, but the very short wind-up makes it hard to anticipate.
Sometimes, the Twin Lions leap into the air and throw a firework bomb at you. When they jump, prepare to parry the bomb for some free damage to your Qi gauge.
They also stand upright before bringing down the lion’s head for a straightforward attack, which is easier to parry because it has a longer wind-up. Additionally, they perform quick head slams followed by leg sweeps—if you get hit by the head slam, keep spamming the parry button to counter the leg sweep.
The Twin Lions have two special gold attacks. One involves them rushing at you quickly, knocking you into the air. This move does a lot of damage but can be dodged once you learn the timing. The other gold attack starts with creating pillars around the arena, then climbing onto one. They will then dive at you—dodge just before impact. If a pillar is in the way, they’ll jump onto it. Run to the pillar and press the button to kick them off, causing major damage and stunning them briefly.
Note: Sometimes, the button prompt to kick doesn’t appear, which is likely a bug. When this happens, back off and avoid follow-up attacks carefully.
The lions also climb pillars and then perform a dive roll toward you. You can either dodge like with the gold attack or parry at the last moment.
They have a red attack where they sweep and then uppercut. Parrying the second hit will allow you to counterattack.
Rarely, the Twin Lions will move to the center of the arena and start firing fireworks in all directions. The usual way to dodge this is by shooting a fire arrow at the boss’s head. However, since you often won’t have enough time to aim before the fireworks explode, it’s safer to just dodge.
Phase 2
Once the first health bar is down, the fight shifts into phase two. The lions become faster and stronger. Their moves are more unpredictable, with slight differences and extra movements before and during attacks.
Note: During this phase, the firework bomb attack will continue, with the boss launching a second bomb after the first. Be ready to parry both.
Another new move involves the boss spinning while firing fireworks. You can interrupt this by using Meridian Touch, but timing it is tricky—especially if you’re close when the attack begins.
Overall, this boss is very demanding and tests your patience, especially because of the cutscene before each fight. It’s best to learn which attacks are safely parryable and which are better dodged. If the fight feels overwhelming, consider lowering the difficulty or enabling Assist Deflection for easier gameplay. This boss is tough but manageable with patience and practice.
