Listening to the constant teasing from the stranger in Grounded 2 can be really frustrating, but you’ll finally get your chance to fight back during a boss battle at the end of the first major story segment. The journey to this fight is long and includes strange mini-bosses and puzzles along the way.
Though it may seem like a challenge meant to slow you down, all the bosses you face on the way to the Masked Stranger are actually difficulty tests to make sure you’re prepared for the main boss at the end. Get your best gear ready and upgrade your weapons and armor so you can take advantage of the Masked Stranger’s weaknesses.
### What Gear & Mutations To Use Against the Masked Stranger
Before rushing into the boss fight in the underground Ominent Facility, it’s crucial to prepare your best equipment, mutations, and healing items to survive. Make sure your weapons and armor are upgraded for better attack and defense. Bring plenty of Granola Bars for quick health recovery and smoothies like the Scorpidote to help with venom attacks. Equipping mutations like Mithridatism and Spicy Safety will also help deal with elemental damage during the fight.
### How To Get To The Masked Stranger
To reach the boss, follow the main story until you complete the Networking mission. Then, head to the northern part of the map where you’ll find a hidden Ominent Facility beneath a statue of Dr. Tully. From there, go north through the Rose Garden, climbing through bushes and defeating three O.R.C. bosses:
1. Captain Nitro (Northern Scorpion)
2. Lieutenant Blade (Praying Mantis)
3. General Berserker (Cockroach Queen)
After defeating the Cockroach Queen and activating the relays, you’ll discover a report and clues about how dangerous the Masked Stranger is, indicating that this will be a tough fight.
### How To Beat The Masked Stranger Boss
Entering the boss room, you’ll be greeted with a brief introduction and warned that you’ll need to give it your all. The Masked Stranger is weak to “Fresh” damage but resists venom and spicy damage. The boss charges relentlessly and chases you around the area, so if you’re playing solo, fighting head-on is generally the best approach.
The Stranger wields a powerful Spicy Coaltana, which inflicts Sizzle damage with each hit. Be careful; taking too many hits in a row increases Sizzle buildup and causes more damage. The ground will occasionally sizzle as the boss prepares a massive attack—this is your cue to dodge or run away to avoid being hit and building up Sizzle.
When playing with a friend, coordination makes the fight easier, especially in the second phase. Keep your distance from each other so you’re not both caught in the boss’s attacks. The fight shifts from Phase One into Phase Two when the Stranger drinks a Liquid Rage smoothie, healing herself fully and becoming more aggressive. In Phase Three, she releases her pet, the O.R.C. Wolf Spider, Bandit, which will attack you.
During this phase, circle around Bandit and attack its legs and rear, making it vulnerable without taking too much damage yourself. Focus on building up stun or elemental damage depending on your weapon. Once Bandit is defeated, the fight ends.
### What Rewards Do You Get From Defeating The Masked Stranger?
After defeating the boss and finishing the fight, you’ll get valuable items including:
– The recipe for the Spicy Coaltana
– The Orb Weaver Buggy unlocked
– The Ranger Station upgrade
Be sure to loot Bandit for additional items like the O.R.C. Receiver, Wolf Spider Chunks, Venom, and Fangs to help you in future battles.
