Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has plenty of boss fights, even though the game can be finished in a relatively short time. Every boss battle is unique and requires different strategies to succeed without getting hurt.
The End is the boss fight that demands the most patience. This makes sense because it’s a sniper battle, which naturally requires a lot of waiting. To win this fight, patience is key, and if you play your cards right, you can leave the fight with more rewards than you started with.
### How to Avoid The End’s Attacks
The End will hide in various spots around the area to take shots at you. He’s hard to spot, but you can notice a faint glint reflecting off his rifle scope, which tips you off to his position.
You’ll get an audio warning before he fires, so you can dodge his shot, though there’s always a chance he might hit you anyway. Checking your map helps because it marks the locations where he might be set up. This allows you to plan your route more carefully. Stay behind cover and move slowly and quietly.
The End fires tranquilizer darts, meaning if you get hit, you’ll need to use health supplies to recover or focus on stamina maintenance, which involves eating food. Both options help keep you in the fight longer without taking damage.
### How to Defeat The End
There are different ways to deal with The End. You can try one of these methods:
– Shoot him when you first spot him near the dock. Using the SVD rifle at that long range is a good choice.
– Take him out from a distance by shooting him with a powerful sniper.
– Sneak up close to him and silently take him down.
– Or, you could wait for him to die naturally of old age—yes, really.
Sniping him from afar is the most straightforward method, but it can take just as long or longer than sneaking up on him because he’s very good at hiding. Tracking him down can be time-consuming, and you might spend a lot of time searching without him noticing you.
Pro tip: firing into the air can reveal your position quickly, making it easier for The End to spot you, but it also helps you locate him by forcing him into a visible position. This method is risky because it exposes you to danger regularly.
### How to Sneak Up on The End
The fight can happen in multiple areas. If you enter an area and see The End’s health bar still visible at the top of your screen, you’re in the right place. He’ll move around these spots, and your goal is to follow and sneak behind him.
Using tools like the directional microphone or thermal vision will make tracking him easier. Explore the surroundings to find good paths to approach him quietly. Use the routes to get behind him without raising suspicion.
Once close, sneak up behind him, draw your weapon, and aim at his head. If successful, he’ll drop his Moss Camo suit—the best camouflage in the game—and you can deal heavy damage. Repeating this process quietly and non-lethally will also reward you with his non-lethal sniper rifle, the Mosin-Nagant.
### How to Wait for Old Age
Another option is to wait for The End to die of old age. The fight can be extended by simply waiting. As soon as the encounter begins, you can wait seven real-world days for him to pass away naturally. You can do this either by waiting in real time or by adjusting your system clock forward by the right amount of time.
He won’t be a threat anymore, but you also won’t receive any special rewards for killing him. Dead is dead, and this is the easiest way to bypass the fight altogether.
