Sister Splinter is a mandatory boss if you want to unlock the wall-climbing ability in Hollow Knight: Silksong. With Cling Grip being in the balance, you’ll need to skillfully use your needle and Silkspear to take down this monster hanging from the ceiling.
No matter what tactics you try, Sister Splinter usually has an extra trick up her sleeve. She’ll often use her wild vines to keep you at bay or summon tough reinforcements to complicate the fight. The better you become at spotting and countering her tricks, the easier the battle will be.
How to Defeat Sister Splinter
Phase One
Attack | Wind-Up Tells and Attack Details | Recommended Countermeasures |
---|---|---|
Triple Slam | Sister Splinter raises a hand, claws glowing white, then slams three times, alternating hands. | Dash back and forth between strikes, then jump to counterattack. |
Vines | Dust falls in two straight lines, signaling vines about to drop. They deal one mask of damage on contact. In phase three, vines increase to three lines. | Destroy these vines quickly with three nail strikes or one Silkspear. |
Phase Two
Attack | Details | Recommended Actions |
---|---|---|
Summon Reinforcements | Sister Splinter roars; from the ceiling, splinterbarks emerge. | Attack her during the roar, then destroy the splinterbarks with attacks or traps. |
Phase Three
Attack | Details | Recommended Actions |
---|---|---|
Arena Vines | Roaring, followed by multiple waves of vines descending from the ceiling, starting from the outer edges moving inward. | Stay in the center, prepare to use Silk Spear in one direction once the vines settle, then sprint into the cleared space. |
Every time Sister Splinter is staggered and knocked down, she falls to the ground. When she returns to the ceiling, she begins her next phase:
- Phase Two begins with reinforcement attacks, which she almost always starts with.
- Phase Three involves more vines, and they appear more frequently.
Focusing on minimizing both her reinforcements and vines will help you deal damage and avoid her attacks easily.
Tips for the Fight:
- Use Silkspear to quickly cut down vines that threaten you.
- Aim to attack her when she’s not summoning reinforcements to conserve your Silk.
- Lay Sting Shard traps to handle splinterbark enemies efficiently.
- Use Silkspear to quickly eliminate splinterbarks if they become overwhelming.
- The best times to attack are after her three-hit combo, during reinforcement summoning, or when she’s staggered on the ground.
- Consider equipping the Druid’s Eye if you need frequent healing, as it helps to heal safely while using Silkspear often.
Staying alert to her various tricks and keeping the battlefield clear of obstacles will make the fight manageable. After defeating her, continue to the left to reach a new area and unlock the Cling Grip ability by binding the power granted at Herrah’s statue. This ability greatly enhances your wall-climbing skills, opening up new locations to explore.
