The difficulty level in Digimon Story: Time Stranger can vary greatly depending on how much you utilize its different game systems. Some boss battles, especially those within the same area as regular enemies, can suddenly become much harder. These fights might require you to change your strategy entirely or bring specialized teams for specific encounters.
One of the first tougher bosses you’ll encounter is Parrotmon. Below, you’ll find detailed advice on how to defeat this boss, including tips to stop it from healing with lightning strikes and suggestions for which Digimon to use.
### Parrotmon’s Strengths, Weaknesses, and Attacks
Parrotmon is a Vaccine-type Digimon. It is weak against Data and strong against Virus types. It takes extra damage from Fire and Earth attacks, resists Wind, and is completely resistant to Electricity. Attacks of other elements usually deal normal damage.
When the fight begins, Parrotmon will use Gale Storm II, which deals wind damage to your team. During the battle, it will often use Thunder Charge to heal itself and Lightning Strike, which heals it a bit each time it’s used. To prevent this healing, bring a Digimon with a metal body—such as Hagurumon, Guardromon, Clockmon, or Blimpmon. If one of these is on the field, lightning will target them instead, stopping Parrotmon from healing.
### How to Fight Parrotmon’s Ultimate Attack
After several turns, Parrotmon will start charging its powerful attack, Mjolnir Thunder, and will expose the Crest on its head. Hitting this Crest will break its charge and stop the attack from happening. The Crest has different elemental weaknesses than Parrotmon’s body—it is weak to Water, Ice, Holy, and Null elements, but resistant to Fire and Ground. Electricity will do little to no damage. Using a move like Cross Art: Strike can help break the Crest more easily.
If you fail to stop the attack in time, be ready to heal and defend, as Mjolnir Thunder will cause high damage to all your Pokémon and might even paralyze them.
During the later stages, Parrotmon will use Shock Plasma I, damaging one target with electricity multiple times, and Thunder Fall II, which hits all targets with electricity. It may also boost its defenses with Harden from time to time.
When about 40% of its health remains, Merukimon will join the fight. Merukimon’s Thousand Fists attack can do a lot of damage and can make the battle much easier if you can hold out until then.
### Recommended Digimon for the Fight
Since Parrotmon is a Vaccine Digimon, the best strategy is to use a team of six Data Digimon. For simplicity, focus on bringing as many Data Digimon with Fire and Earth attacks as possible.
Good attacker options include Shoutmon with Rock Soul and BaoHuckmon with Wolkenapalm. For support, Kiwimon can be useful if equipped with skills like Revive, Aura, and Meditator.
It’s also very important to include a metal-bodied Digimon to draw Lightning Strikes away from Parrotmon. Clockmon and Blimpmon are solid choices because they are Data types.
Throughout the fight, Aegiomon’s Heal ability is valuable for keeping your team healthy. His electric attacks won’t help much in this fight, so it’s best to use him primarily as the dedicated healer. Minervamon will join you too, but since she is a Virus type, her attacks won’t be very effective initially.
However, you can cast Character Reversal on Minervamon, turning her into a Data Digimon, which enables her to deal more damage to Parrotmon. When Parrotmon begins charging Mjolnir Thunder, using her special skill, Strike Roll, can help break the gauge more easily. Remember to recast Character Reversal periodically to keep Minervamon as a Data type during the battle.
