In Where Winds Meet, many bosses are scattered across the world, offering good resources for improving your character and challenging your combat skills. To defeat the game’s World Bosses, you’ll need a mix of upgraded gear, Talents, and Mystic Arts.
One such boss is the Earth Fiend Deity, which appears early in the game in Qinghe. If you jump into this battle without a plan, it can quickly become overwhelming. Luckily, there’s a straightforward way to handle it, which we’ll explain below.
Earth Fiend Deity Location
You can find the Earth Fiend Deity in the Witherwilds area, within the Moonveil Mountains in Qinghe. Head north for approximately 250 meters from the Tiger Fort Boundary Stone to reach this boss.
How to Fight Earth Fiend Deity
Before starting the fight, it’s highly recommended to unlock the Cloud Step Mystic Art. Out of combat, Cloud Step allows you to jump around easily. During combat, it lets you leap onto enemies’ heads, dealing damage and knocking over enemies with Unstable Poise. You can obtain Cloud Step through the Echos in the Shrine side quest at the General’s Shrine in Qinghe.
The Earth Fiend Deity mainly attacks by leaping at you with its claws, often burrowing underground and reappearing suddenly to strike. Precise parrying and dodging are crucial. Pay close attention to its attack patterns to time your reactions correctly.
One of its most dangerous yet most punishable moves involves rolling around the arena and repeatedly hitting you. While harmful, this attack can be fully parried, draining a significant portion of the boss’s Qi gauge.
Tips for the Fight
- Parry and dodge carefully: Timing is key to avoiding damage.
- Use Cloud Step: Jump onto the boss’s head to deal damage and create openings.
- Parry the rolling attack: When the boss is rolling and hitting repeatedly, it’s best to parry each strike. If you have Assist Deflection enabled, it will automatically parry every hit, making this easier.

The boss also performs a sand whirlwind attack that pulls you in. After a brief charge-up, it releases a large area attack that can deal massive damage or cause a one-shot kill. To dodge this, use Cloud Step to knock the boss over, making it vulnerable temporarily.
When the boss shouts “underground,” it will dive beneath the arena and then strike from above multiple times. Perfect timing with your parries or dodges is essential here, as mistiming can lead to repeated hits.
If the boss reappears close to you, it will jump onto your head and attack. Be ready to dodge quickly when it goes underground unexpectedly.
The Earth Fiend Deity will sometimes wrap itself in a toad spirit and perform belly flops on you. Parry just before it hits the ground to deflect the attack.
Overall
While this boss is generally easier than other World Bosses, it still requires practice to master the timing for dodging and parrying its more unpredictable attacks. If you’re struggling, consider lowering the difficulty or bringing other players into the fight for assistance.
