After all the excitement and buildup, Mewgenics has arrived, offering a wild, weird, and really disgusting experience from the moment you start until you see the credits roll—and even well beyond that. We wouldn’t want it any other way. Even the toughest battles will have you grinning at how chaotic things get, which is always a good sign.

When it comes to bosses, look out for Boris hiding in the Sewers. He’s a huge, slimy, goopy monster that can be quite the challenge. But if you come prepared with a plan, you’ll find a way to beat this slippery beast easily and move on from the dark, damp sewer into better places like the Caves—although, maybe not just yet.

Boris Overview

Boris is a possible final boss in the Sewers section of the first act. He acts as a major obstacle preventing you from heading home or moving on to the Caves. He has a pretty big health bar, can do a lot of damage, and will attack your units even when you’re trying to attack him. All these factors make him a dangerous opponent if you’re not careful.

He might seem simple on paper, but he can dominate if you don’t pay attention. Don’t underestimate this large, gooey creature—it hurts and can take hits, making the fight tricky.

Boris Information

Boss Type Final Boss
Region Act One: The Sewers
Max HP 200 HP
Potential Drops Spring (Accessory), The Tick (Necklace)

Note: The drops are random and can vary each time you fight him. As you face Boris more, we’ll update the list with all the goodies you can earn.

Recommended Units

Collars Stats
Fighter Strength +2, Speed +1, Intelligence -1
Hunter Dexterity +3, Luck +2, Speed -2, Constitution -1
Tank Constitution +4, Dexterity -1, Intelligence -1
Cleric Charisma +2, Constitution +2, Dexterity -1, Speed -1

For best results, use a team with a Fighter, Hunter, Tank, and Cleric. This setup is well-rounded and flexible enough to control Boris, as you can manipulate his movement around the arena, leaving him with little chance to strike. When Boris does get some hits in, your Cleric can heal your units without issue.

If you prefer using a Mage instead of a Cleric, that’s possible too, but you’ll need to be extremely precise. You won’t have as much ability to heal outside of consumables or special abilities, so for this fight, the Cleric is usually the better choice—especially since things can spiral out of control very quickly.

How To Defeat Boris

Boris isn’t too complex, but his massive health pool and tendency to steamroll your units with his movement can make him seem tough. He also has an overly telegraphed charging attack, which can be avoided once you understand his patterns. Once you learn how to corner him and control the arena, the fight becomes manageable—just don’t mess up.

Boris – Moving (General)

Boris’s basic move action involves shifting one tile in any of the four directions. Because he’s so big, he covers four tiles with each move, meaning those tiles are in the danger zone. He does this about three times each round, so constantly reposition your units.

It’s best never to end your turn standing directly next to Boris, as he’ll likely move over you. If your Tank has a lot of armor, you can take advantage of backing him into Boris and launching counterattacks. These will damage Boris and push him back, creating space.

Boris – Moving (Direction Of Attack)

Boris doesn’t stop moving after his turn ends. Every time he’s hit, he moves one tile toward the source of the damage. If any of your units are too close and get attacked, Boris will run into them, causing more damage.

This passive movement can be annoying but also useful. If you keep your Hunter at a distance, you can hit Boris from far away while he stays at bay, as his movement is limited to one tile toward the attacker. Use this to maneuver him around the arena, drawing attention and avoiding damage.

Tip: Guide Boris around with your Hunter while keeping your other units out of reach. When he’s focused on you, unload your Hunter’s abilities or basic attacks to damage him. Since Boris only moves one tile toward the damage source, you can reposition afterward to keep your units safe.

Boris – Trample Dash

On his final turn of each round, Boris performs a powerful Trample Dash. He charges swiftly in any of the four directions, crushing everything in his path for enormous damage. Avoid getting hit by this attack at all costs.

Knowing when Boris is about to do this is a big advantage—you’ll see it coming every time. Make sure you’re not standing in front, behind, or beside him during his last move of the round. Reposition your units to stay clear, especially after attacking with your Hunter, so Boris doesn’t flatten your team.

Pro Tip: The fight can last long because Boris’s health is so high, and he can land this devastating attack. If he does hit, heal your injured units immediately, particularly those who aren’t tanks. Then, resume your tactic of kiting him around the arena, constantly moving your units to stay one step ahead.
