In “The Last Caretaker,” your main task is to nurture a human seed for a colony that aims to rebuild humanity elsewhere. After bringing the seed back to the Lazarus Complex, the next step is to ensure it has everything needed to survive.
You’ll need to supply power and water. Additionally, you must gather nutrients and memories to develop the human’s personality and physical health, enabling it to thrive on the colony. This part of the process involves learning how to grow a human as part of the game’s evolution steps.
### How To Provide Fresh Water For Your Human
Previously, we covered setting up a fresh water supply. Here’s a quick review:
1. Connect electricity through the door opposite the save and vitality points.
2. Run the power down the ladder on the left into the lower chamber.
3. Divide the power to run the saltwater pump and the water purifier.
4. Lay water cables to the same chamber.
5. Link the water supply line to the water purifier’s freshwater port.
6. Attach the saltwater port to the pump.
7. Repair both the pump and the purifier.
8. Ensure water flows upward through pipes and electricity flows downward.
9. Connect the water supply to the Lazarus chamber containing the pod.
You also need water to produce nutrients, which are vital for the human’s growth.
### How To Provide Food For Your Human
You might have some food canisters already, but to produce more, you’ll need to build a food processor, unlocked at level ten for two skill points. Required parts include:
– Conduit wiring (1)
– Connector ports (2)
– Alloy frames (2)
– Filtering system (1)
– Display screen (1)
Once crafted, assemble the parts and connect the food processor to your water and power sources. Building near the chamber makes the process easier.
### How To Get Biomaterials
Biomaterials are necessary for crafting nutrients. They can be found in various locations such as docks and containers, but the main sources are:
– Crawlers for Omega-3
– Oceans via ships’ nets for proteins and carbohydrates
– Dismantled bio waste canisters for fats
– Red slime for calcium
– Pink slime for vitamin D
– Talon sharks for bioregulators, nanite nutrients, and mitochondrial amplifiers
Collecting these biomaterials allows you to create a variety of nutrients for your human.
### All Types Of Food
There are nine types of food, each with different effects and unlock requirements:
– Nutri-Core (unlocks at level 10, 1 skill point): boosts health, intellect, lifespan, strength, and weight. Ingredients: fats, proteins, carbohydrates.
– High-Fat (tier 10): increases weight and supports other traits. Ingredients: fats, proteins, carbs.
– Physique Fuel (tier 11): enhances height and strength. Ingredients: fats, proteins, carbs.
– Mind Surge (tier 11): increases intellect and lifespan. Ingredients: fats, proteins, carbs.
– Muscle Fortification (tier 13): significantly boosts weight and strength, with additional trait effects. Ingredients: calcium, vitamin D, omega-3.
– Bone-Fortify (tier 14): improves height, strength, and overall robustness. Ingredients: vitamin D, calcium, omega-3.
– Endura-Growth (tier 14): enhances overall growth traits. Ingredients: vitamin D, calcium, omega-3.
– Immune Boost (tier 15): bolsters health and vitality traits. Ingredients: fats, proteins, carbs, vitamin D, calcium, omega-3.
– Neuro-Boost (tier 15): boosts mental capabilities and lifespan. Ingredients: key minerals and nutrients.
Balancing these foods helps you develop a healthy, viable human.
### Where To Find Memories For Your Human
Memories shape personality and can’t be crafted, only collected. They come from everyday objects such as books, instruments, or decorations. Common locations include:
– On desks
– On shelves
– In vents
– In containers
– Near furniture
– In dark corners
Loot all loose items you find. Visiting beacons and other key areas can yield more memories if you’re short.
### How To Use The Lazarus Pod Interface
Interacting with the Lazarus pod opens a menu displaying your available items and your human’s current traits. Focus first on physical traits needed for growth, such as:
– Life Expectancy (minimum 10 years)
– Height (minimum 30 cm)
– Weight (minimum 20 kg)
– And trait-specific requirements if any.
Use nutrient canisters from your inventory and drag them into the Lazarus rack to adjust physical traits. Moving items out is also possible. Red indicators highlight traits exceeding minimums; balance is key to creating a healthy human.
### Basic Mental Traits
There’s no minimum for mental traits, but aiming for points in all nine areas ensures a well-rounded personality. Traits include:
– Empathy
– Communication
– Patience
– Discipline
– Leadership
– Adaptability
– Creativity
– Focus
– Logic
– Wisdom
Hover over memory items to view the traits they confer. Higher-quality items have more impact. Some objects, like sports equipment, may not offer traits, so check before carrying them around. Aim for a balanced mental profile, resulting in a viable human.
### How To Finish Creating Your Human
Once physical and mental traits are set, add memories to influence personality further. When ready, press ‘E’ to start the growth process. It takes about ten minutes—during this time, watch as the human develops. After completing the growth, you’ll receive confirmation, and the quest concludes.
