Like many survival games, Everwind depends heavily on food to restore health after battles. Learning how to make the best meals in the game is crucial as you progress.
The Cooking Station will become one of your most-used tools, especially as you explore new areas and find a variety of ingredients across the vast pixel world. Just put some wood into the fire, and you’re ready to cook.
Since Everwind is procedurally generated, we can’t give exact locations for all recipes. However, there’s a full list of recipes in the Food & Drink category to help you gather the ingredients you need when it’s time to cook.
Cooking Overview
If you’ve played other survival titles, you’ll notice that cooked meals restore HP lost during fights. It’s smart to prepare plenty of food early on. Your first settlement introduces you to cooking, so get familiar with it fast and keep a stock of food when you’re away from your base.
Exploring and fighting will inevitably cause damage, so even if you can eat raw ingredients to regain some health, cooked meals usually do a better job of restoring HP. You can also see healing effects over time from cooked dishes, so it’s best to eat a big meal when possible and heal gradually.
Several ingredient types go into recipes, including:
- Herbs: Flowers and tubers found in grassy or watery areas.
- Mushrooms: Abundant in the starting zone, ideal for basic early meals.
- Produce: Berries and vegetables native to each biome, which can be farmed.
- Creature Loot: Meat and eggs from defeated animals on the islands.
You’ll need a Cooking Station to make meals, which requires fuel to keep the fire burning. The station displays all unlocked recipes so you can make anything for which you have the ingredients.
Be sure to collect your cooked food once it’s ready—your station will steam when dishes are done. There’s no expiration, so you can cook in batches and store meals in chests for later trips.
Unlocking recipes isn’t automatic; you must find and unlock them by exploring the world. They can often be discovered in settlements or by looting treasure chests and cabinets.
Some recipes are designed to replenish stamina instead of health. Drinks like stamina tonics are common, while meals and stews mostly restore HP. Combining these with the right skill upgrades will maximize your effectiveness during adventures.
It’s wise to carry both stamina and healing foods, especially as you face tougher enemies in higher altitudes.
Recipe List
The following table shows all recipes available at the Cooking Station, along with required ingredients. The list is divided into two sections: one for health-restoring meals and another for stamina drinks and tonics. Remember, you need to learn each recipe before you can cook it; having ingredients isn’t enough.
