Enemies that fly can be quite frustrating when you’re out of ammo in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault. Tyke, the second boss in The Gallery, is part of this difficult group, as he will fly back and forth across the arena, making it hard to hit him unless you build up your ammo by defeating surrounding enemies.
Expect lots of projectiles and tricky shots during this fight. Also, pay attention to where you step. Here are some key tips to understand the fight and find ways to beat Tyke.
Tyke appears when you reach the end of your run in the Treasury Halls, which is the second area of The Gallery.
Tyke’s First Phase
At the start, Tyke will fly around mainly, which is annoying because you can only hit him with your gun. Watch his movements to avoid danger.
When the fight begins, Tyke summons two minions. Quickly defeat them to gather ammo, then fire a couple of shots at Tyke. He will fly straight across the arena, causing explosions beneath him—stay out of his way—and sometimes spawn ground-based attacks that hit in nine circular areas.
If you find yourself inside one of these circles, it doesn’t matter because your roll provides invulnerability frames. Just roll just before the circles explode to avoid damage.
Tyke will also throw explosive devices that detonate after a few seconds, creating shockwaves you need to jump over. Additionally, he can shoot lasers from portals marked by red lines; you can roll through these lasers to dodge the damage.
During these attacks, Tyke might throw a big purple ball. Use your backpack to hit it, causing Tyke to roll to the center of the arena and become vulnerable for a brief period.
He will then resume his attack pattern, often starting with a barrage of pink fireballs. It’s best to stay on the bottom left of the arena and move only slightly up or down to dodge incoming projectiles.
When Tyke loses around 30% of his health, the stage changes to a four-square arena.
Tyke’s Second Phase
In this phase, Tyke throws the big purple ball again, but now he also sends it back to you when you hit it, so keep firing your backpack to keep it away. Afterward, he resumes his attack cycle, shooting lasers, creating explosions, and summoning minions.
Note that the arena is now divided into squares with gaps in between. Falling through these gaps is possible, so roll from one square to another to avoid projectiles and reach the purple ball when he throws it.
As he approaches 60% health, Tyke transforms the arena once more for the final phase.
Tyke’s Third Phase
Instead of a four-square layout, the battlefield becomes a nine-square grid. The fight remains similar, but now the floor will sometimes vanish, indicated by a pink glow, and larger gaps will appear between the squares. Always plan your rolls carefully to avoid falling off.
Tyke will repeat his attacks but with an important change: when he throws the purple ball, he will send it back multiple times until the final throw lands in a different square from where you are standing. You need to quickly move to that square before the platforms disappear.
Rewards for Defeating Tyke
Upon defeating Tyke, you’ll receive two chests filled with loot and the Broken Rocket material, which is used for crafting weapons. Completing this fight also finishes the Police Jurisdiction task.
