Regardless of which Digimon game you’re playing, like Digimon Story: Time Stranger, your Digimon’s ability to evolve to a new level depends on their stats. For example, a physical attacker Digimon typically needs high attack and speed stats. On the other hand, a defensive Digimon benefits most from high HP and defense.
Sometimes, Digimon can evolve naturally once their stats meet certain requirements as they level up. But often, you’ll need to boost their stats beyond what leveling alone can do, or change their personality to improve specific stats. That’s where training comes into play, and you’ll need the appropriate equipment for effective training.
How to Unlock the Ability to Craft Training Equipment
Before you can craft better farm equipment, you must complete a side quest for Zudomon called “The Blacksmith’s Request.” This quest becomes available during the main story mission, “Incoming Conflict.” To do the quest, you’ll need to find a Rusty Iron Texture, which can be obtained by collecting materials all around Central Town: Tower, and after training your Digimon at the Digi-Farm. After giving Zudomon the Rusty Iron Texture, you’ll gain the ability to craft more Training Equipment and Digi-Farm decorations at Zudomon’s Shop. These require specific materials, such as various items depending on the equipment tier, including materials, decorations, stat boosters, healing items, or lower-tier gear.
How to Craft Higher Tiers of Training Equipment
Once you unlock Zudomon’s Shop, you’ll automatically gain access to recipes for Training Set Bs and Cs. But these are more difficult to craft because they require more materials, some of which are story-locked. For instance, certain decorations like the Generator and Snowman come from areas like the Abyss and aren’t available until you progress through the story or unlock specific regions. Some decorations can be found directly on the Digi-Farm tiles, and one tile can unlock the recipes for crafting these decorations at Zudomon’s Shop.
Many of the advanced Training Set C equipment also requires HP and SP Capsule IIIs. These are locked until later in the story, so can’t be obtained early on. Generally, goals for HP and SP stats are easier to achieve since these stats are straightforward, and you may not need to focus much on them unless you’re aiming for a personality shift, which requires Training Set As or Bs. Training Set Cs only affects stats and doesn’t influence personality.
All Training Equipment Recipes
Once the shop is unlocked, you’ll find various recipes, such as:
-
Training Set (Sauna A): Boosts Digimon HP and shifts personality toward Heart. Materials needed include HP Capsule I x10, Tree Model x3, Clear Sky-Blue Texture x1. Cost: 5,000 G. Materials can be purchased or gathered from the Digi-Farm or story progression areas.

Training Set (Sauna B): Greatly boosts HP and shifts personality toward Heart. Requires Sauna A plus Bonfire and more textures. Cost: 10,000 G. Craft or gather accordingly.
-
Training Set (Sauna C): Greatly increases HP, requiring HP Capsule III and HP Attachment II. Cost: 15,000 G.
Other sets include Boombox for SP, Punching Bags and Club decorations for ATK, DEF, and personality shifts, and Tearoom series for SPI and personality shifts. Each has specific material requirements, often involving story-locked items like Rainbow Textures, Generator, and others that can be found on farm tiles, purchased, or obtained after certain story events.
Additional Notes
-
The Merry-Go-Round decoration may become available at multiple points in the game, such as early when Zudomon’s shop opens, upon reaching Agent Rank 6, or near the end. It’s unclear if this is intentional or a bug.
-
Some Equipment, especially those for Training Set C, may require story progression items like HP and SP Capsules IIIs or specific farm decorations (e.g., Generator, Snowman), which are only accessible later in the game or via story milestones.
-
Higher-tier equipment, such as Training Set B and C, significantly improve training effects but need more materials and may depend on your progress through the story or exploration of specific areas.
-
Upgrading all your Training Sets from A to B early on is recommended due to the increased stat gains, despite the longer training times. Both sets also influence the Digimon’s personality, shifting their behavior and traits.
-
Collecting materials involves a mix of purchasing, gathering from tiles on the Digi-Farm, or progressing through storyline areas like the Abyss. Some decorations can be obtained by picking them up on farm tiles and then crafting the recipes.
-
Certain decorations and equipment like the Merry-Go-Round require items that are story-locked, found in specific areas, or obtained as rewards, making their acquisition reliant on story events.

Equipment crafting involves a combination of purchasing from shops, gathering from farm tiles, and story progression, with some recipes unlocking only after specific milestones.
