In Crimson Desert, you can use various weapons, techniques, and special skills to outsmart your enemies. Learning how these systems work and how to get them can greatly improve your chances of survival during fights.
One important mechanic that can easily be overlooked is the four elemental types you can attach to your weapons and abilities. If you’re aiming to unlock the Wind element, you’ll need to do some main story missions to access it.
### How to Unlock the Wind Element
The first step is to finish Chapter 8 of the main story. At the end of this chapter, you’ll face a tough boss battle at the base of the Spire of Clockwork in eastern Demeniss. You won’t receive the key to open the Spire of Clockwork until you complete this chapter. This key is needed to reach the Abyss area where the Wind element is located.
### Ascending The Spire of Clockwork
After completing Chapter 8, go back to the Spire of Clockwork in The Golden Plains. Approach the main door, use your key to enter, and look for a yellow horizontal lever directly in front of you. Use your weight to lower this lever, which will power the bottom part of the tower. Climb up once the tower is powered. If you have the Aerial Maneuver with the grapple hook, use it to climb the metal platforms up to the middle section, where there is another yellow switch to activate by standing on it. Without the grapple, use the rotating gears as steps to climb higher.
Once you’ve thrown the second switch and restored power to the whole spire, keep climbing until you reach the rotating clock face. Wait for a gap to appear, then run outside onto the balcony. Turn right and find the elevator on the tower’s side. Ride the elevator to the top, where an Abyss Gate will appear and take you to Riddle Square in the Abyss.
### Completing The Riddle Square Glider Trial
The island’s name suggests puzzles, but there are none here. Instead, go to the center of Riddle Square and use Axion Force on the yellow switch next to the large ground fan. Your goal is to glide through a series of rings within a time limit. It’s helpful to unlock the Swift Flight skill to make this easier.
Start by gliding upward, then turn left and fly through the gates. Each gate restores your stamina, so don’t worry about saving it. Aim for the center of each ring to avoid hitting the edges. Using the Swift Flight ability will help you pass through the rings more easily, especially if they form a line. If you start to fall behind, use the Axiom Force grapple to pull yourself back onto the island and save time.
After passing through all the rings, you’ll land in front of a large circular switch. Climb onto it and use Force Palm to activate it. This will spawn an Abyss Artifact at the base of the switch. Picking it up grants you a skill point and unlocks the Wind element for use.
### How to Use The Wind Element
To equip the Wind element, hold right on the D-Pad and select Wind from the radial menu. Once equipped, you can activate a smoke bomb to escape enemies quickly by pressing Right Trigger + A (on Xbox) or Right Trigger + X (on PlayStation). If you’ve unlocked the Imbue Element skill, you can add Wind to various attacks like Force Palm or Turning Slash, enhancing their power with wind effects.
