Exploring an abandoned island as a wandering lighthouse with no one to talk to but an emerald-feathered bird makes “Keeper” a very unique game. It features a series of puzzles that you need to solve to reach the mountain’s peak and stop the Wither once and for all. Like all puzzles, some may be challenging.
Luckily, we’re here to help you understand how to advance smoothly through the game. If you’re stuck on the decorated door puzzle beneath the giant tree guardian, we can guide you through it. Here’s how to solve the winding gears puzzle on the door.
Where to Find the Winding Door Puzzle
Use your focused light beam on the winding knots beneath the tree guardian to open up new areas of the underground caves. As you explore, a door will seal behind you, trapping you in a room filled with glowing mushrooms and a large puzzle door with a shining blue eye. Although this is the way forward, it’s currently inaccessible because it’s missing two of three gear handles needed to turn the icons on the door. Use your light on the knot door to the right and pass through to search for the missing handles.
Where to Get the First Handle
The first handle is located down the path to the right. Dash through the vines and wade into the water to find two knot doors. The door on your left shows the icon you need, and it has a handle lodged inside. Send Twig out and rotate the handle around the icon until it reaches the bottom. Twig will then bring back the handle, hanging it on your railing.
Where to Get the Second Handle
The second handle can be found by breaking through the vines on the left. Make your way back to a wall puzzle, where Twig needs to fly out and operate a lever. Move the lever in this sequence: left, down, left, up, and left. This action will free the handle, which Twig will carry back to you.
Puzzle Door Solution
Return to the large door and send Twig to place the two missing handles into the gears. Once attached, you’ll need to rotate the gears to unlock the door. Here’s how to wind each gear:
- Top Gear: Rotate so the point faces downward, like an arrow.
- Middle Gear: Turn it so the flames point toward the eye at the center of the door.
- Bottom Gear: Wind it into an S-shape from top to bottom.
When winding the gears, listen carefully. You’ll notice the winding slows down and becomes tight when you’re close to solving the puzzle—that’s your cue.
Once the gears are correctly wound and the door opens, you can move on to the next area.
