After finishing the Grey Eminence quest in GreedFall: The Dying World and getting a letter of recommendation to meet with the noble families in Peren, you look for funds to pay for your trip back to Teer Fradee.
You talk to the noble families and discover they are willing to fund the journey if you do them a favor first. Here’s how to complete the “Crown For A Journey” quest and solve the puzzle at the Tomb of Kings.
How To Access The Tomb Of Kings
Your team begins searching for proof of the prince’s lineage. This journey takes you to an archaeological dig outside Peren, at an ancient ruin from Astria’s era. This is where the investigation kicks off.
Travel out of the city just beyond the vineyards. Guards will stop you; let Sybille speak to them, and they will allow you through.
Proceed down to the ancient Astrain ruins marked on your map. Be sure to loot all containers along the way. Speak with Garip, lie to him about your purpose there, and get familiar with the team, who warn you about dangerous creatures and possible traps in the ruins. While exploring, they’ll work on fixing the wooden elevator.
Follow the map to the excavation site and make your way through the area, grabbing notes on each statue—either read them now or save them for later at the tomb. Stick to the left side, behind the group, and go deeper into the ruins, fighting off deadly majida as you progress.
The first lever is found after descending the initial stone steps and then turning left into a series of rooms. One of those rooms contains a lever attached to a statue. Keep going down past more majida.
The lower level is accessed by a ladder and wooden stairs, guarded by majida and pandroma. Defeat them to proceed. The tunnel ahead is packed with oniscia, so keep your distance or attack quickly to avoid being immobilized.
Continuing, you’ll reach a camp with a nearby bridge. The wooden elevator here isn’t operational yet. Cross the bridge to a blocked area; speak with Garip, who says the elevator is now working. Rest at the camp, but suddenly you’re attacked — Flora has been murdered. Garip gives you explosives, so use the elevator to go down to the camp below and place them on the blockage across the bridge.
Head back in, following the quest marker to the next lever. Fight off the oniscia and loot resources along the way. After climbing stairs and passing the workbench, notice that the tomb entrance is locked.
Face away from the tomb and drop into the hole on the left. Navigate through the metal gate, watching for traps. Fight any creatures inside before interacting with the lever, but be careful of the trap directly in front of it.
Proceed to the second lever location and, after passing through, blow up the makeshift wall with explosives to clear the way. Loot the chest, then climb the walls to return to your previous spot near the workbench.
Follow the quest marker again to the third and final lever, watching for bleeding traps. The scene will reveal the tomb doors opening. Return to the tomb entrance to explore the final area of the ruins.
How To Solve The Tomb Of The Kings Puzzle
The tomb contains four statues, each with a plinth requiring a specific item. Explore behind the statues for stone tools needed to activate each one.
Use your tracking skills to locate the stone sword, dagger, hammer, and sickle. Place these items on the corresponding statues:
- The Goddess of the Moon: stone sword
- The God of Travel: stone dagger
- The Goddess of Harvest: stone sickle
- The God of Horses: stone hammer
Inside the tomb, a cutscene shows the doors opening. Head to the final part of the ruins, where the secret of the de Vespe family is uncovered. Ingo appears, challenging you to a fight over this information. After a brief battle, decide whether to eliminate Ingo and Dilara or let them go free.
Loot any remaining resources and treasures before leaving for Peren. Your next choice involves deciding who will receive the information:
- Choose the D’Orsay family: They will get the D’Orsay Fine Sautoir, Legate’s Cloak, and 328 coins. You will lose 2 reputation with the de Vespe family but gain 2 with the D’Orsay family.
- Choose the de Vespe family: They will receive the same items, but your reputation with the D’Orsay family drops by 2, while your standing with the Vespes improves by 2.
