Crimson Desert offers plenty of activities, from tackling numerous quests to fighting tough bosses and solving puzzles. There’s a lot you can miss unless you take the time to explore the world thoroughly.
One hidden weapon you might overlook is the Soul Spear. It’s an extremely powerful weapon hidden in the snowy mountains of Hernand. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get it and whether it’s worth the effort to find early on.
To get the Soul Spear, head to the Tomb of Frozen Souls, located in the northwest part of Hernand. On your map, it’s right in the middle of the “H” shape that marks Hernand’s location, making it pretty easy to find. The area is a snowy, mountain-filled region, so be prepared for a climb. Because it’s cold, your stamina will drain faster than usual. Take your time during the ascent and look for spots where you can rest and recover before continuing upward.
Once you reach the area marked in the photo above, look down into the ravine. You’ll see a small walkway leading to a large door. Be careful: this door is guarded by several enemies. These foes are stronger than the regular soldiers you’ve faced throughout Hernand—they hit hard and can kill you easily if they land a few strikes, especially if you’re trying to get the weapon early in your game.
It’s recommended not to attempt to get the Soul Spear until you’ve reached at least Chapter 3 and upgraded to a Level 3 weapon with Refinement. You’ll likely need to fight the enemies guarding the door to get to it.
When you arrive at the door, eliminate or run past the guards until you get inside. The sanctum is spread across multiple floors and paths. Sprint straight ahead, jump over the big gap to the floor below, and enter the room. The Soul Spear sits in the middle of this chamber.
Getting the weapon isn’t easy—expect to fight sorcerers and armed guards. It’s wise to defeat some enemies first. The Darkbringer sword is useful here because its orbs can hit flying sorcerers out of reach. Alternatively, you can use a Charged Shot arrow to knock the sorcerers out of the sky and drop them to their deaths. Since enemies will attack you as soon as you kill one, find a moment to back off, let them de-aggro, then sneak back in to shoot another.
The Soul Spear has 27 Attack and no slots for Abyss Gear. Its special skill triggers whenever you kill an enemy, firing orbs forward that damage anything they hit. This skill has a short cooldown, so you can’t spam it constantly.
Unfortunately, the Soul Spear cannot be upgraded or refined; it will always have 27 Attack regardless of your materials, level, or chapter. If you can manage to obtain it early, it’s a strong weapon capable of handling most challenges. If you’re looking for an early damage boost, it’s worth making a detour to find it—but only if you’re prepared to face the enemies in the tomb first.
