The opening of Grounded 2 introduces you to simple missions that help you get familiar with the game world and the resources available. The initial tasks are straightforward, but the game really gears up once you reach the Signals and Stashes mission. This part challenges you to apply everything you’ve learned so far.
One of the great things about Grounded 2 is that it offers multiple ways to complete missions like Signals & Stashes. While there are standard routes to reach your targets, you can also find creative alternatives and forge new paths to the O.R.C. transmitters if you’re feeling daring.
### How to Start Signals & Stashes
After completing the quest “A Strange Warning” and learning about the mysterious control of the O.R.C. network, you’ll begin the Signals and Stashes mission right after talking to Sloane Beaumont, Ominent’s representative. Once your conversation ends, two locations will be marked on your map:
– The Picnic Table in the north, above the Snackbar Front but below the Fire Pit.
– The Garbage Can in the south, near the entrance, west of the Ice Cream Cart.
Let’s start with the Picnic Table.
### How to Reach the Picnic Table’s O.R.C. Transmitter
Head to the Picnic Table in the north, preferably using your new Buggy Mount for a quick trip. To survive the cold environment there, make sure to prepare by reducing your Chill Damage. You can do this by wearing armor like the Fuzzy Parka, activating the Spicy Safety mutation, or drinking a Blazin’ Brew smoothie, which is quick and effective for dealing with the cold.
Since cold environments are brief here, the Blazin’ Brew smoothie is a convenient choice, requiring ingredients like Spicy Shard, Lingonberry Chunk, and Apple Bits. Be cautious when approaching the tablecloth; a large Orb Weaver Spider patrols near an empty glass bottle at the southeast corner.
Once at the Picnic Table, you can climb onto the tablecloth or build a staircase using Grass Planks and Weed Stems to reach the seat. From there, pass through the cooler, climb the banana, then the popsicles, to get to the top of the table.
You can also build a staircase straight up, but going through the cooler saves time. You don’t need special clothing or potions to resist the cold as long as you have a way to heal and survive the brief freezing episodes.
When at the top, approach the satellite-like transmitter guarded by a Ladybug. Defeat the Ladybug and any other insects under O.R.C. control, then activate the transmitter, which triggers a brief chat with a mysterious stranger.
From there, proceed to the northern side of the table and use a Dandelion Tuft to float down to the marked area. Be on the lookout for an O.R.C. Orb Weaver Spider and some Orb Weaver Jr. enemies, which signal you’re in the right spot.
### Eliminating Enemies and Claiming the Stash
Focus on drawing the smaller spiders away first to avoid being overwhelmed. Coordinated attacks with friends can make this easier. Once you defeat these enemies, claim the Milk Molars they guarded to progress further.
Next, head south to the Garbage Can for the second O.R.C. Transmitter. Before approaching, equip a gas mask to avoid taking damage from the acid cloud surrounding the area.
### How to Reach the Garbage Can’s O.R.C. Transmitter
To craft a gas mask, gather ingredients by defeating Stink Bugs, Weevils, and Gnats, collecting:
– One Weevil Nose
– Four Gnat Fuzz
– Two Crude Ropes
– One Stinkbug Part
With the mask on, navigate around the Garbage Can. The main path isn’t obvious; instead, circle around the SW side to find a branch leading into it and two routes:
1. The right path across a banana to a Raw Science deposit.
2. The left path up a spoon, which coils around the can.
This path demands careful jumping from twig to twig, so saving your game or bringing Dandelion Tufts is wise in case you fall. Follow the rope to the lip of the can, jump over, and climb the spoon to reach the top.
Avoid climbing directly on the rope, as falling off can be disastrous. Instead, stop before the end and look for a small ledge to pull yourself upward. The O.R.C. Transmitter here is guarded by an O.R.C. Stink Bug.
When the Stink Bug rears up, back away and wait for its acid cloud attack; even with a gas mask, the initial blast can cause damage. Defeat it, then hack the transmitter to get your next clue.
From there, use a Dandelion Tuft to float down to the southeast area near the pond, where you’ll encounter more enemies like O.R.C. Orb Weaver spiders and their Jr. counterparts. Take out the smaller spiders first to prevent being overwhelmed and earn a stash of Milk Molars.
### Rewards and Next Steps
Completing the mission reveals new objectives: Networking and Wait, There’s More! Be sure to gather blueberries and Spicy Candies nearby; the berries are valuable for crafting Berry Leather, a useful item, and the candies can unlock mutations or craft rare items like staves.
