How To Complete The Lighting Element in Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert, you have many ways to defeat enemies. You can use a sword that sends angry crows or perform pro-wrestling moves on bandits who get in your way. The combat system has a lot of depth and variety.

One way to increase your power is by harnessing four different elements. Each element gives you a unique ability and can be infused into your attacks to make them stronger. The first element you can unlock during your journey is Lightning, but it requires some effort to obtain.

To unlock the Lightning element, start by completing Chapter 4 of the main story. This chapter will take you to the Scholastone Institute, which eventually grants access back to the Abyss. After finishing Chapter 4, open your map and press the right thumbstick down to switch to the Abyss map.

Next, select the Abyss Nexus connected to the Sanctorum of Insight and head to that island. The puzzle here should already be solved if you’ve completed Chapter 4. Walk through the triangle gate and use the Axiom Force action on the pedestal to open the path ahead. Finish the platforming section to arrive at the Secret Garden island.

The Secret Garden puzzle involves aligning lasers from cannons on each side of the room to circular switches above a locked door. Move the square Abyss Core in the bottom right corner to the slot below the left laser cannon. Then, aim the laser at the mirror above the nearby cannon to bounce it across the room to hit the switch over the door. Repeat this process, angling the laser to hit the second switch above the door by bouncing it off the mirrors.

Once the switches are activated, the door opens. Glide up to the top of the island and connect the cable to your right upon landing. Use Force Palm to activate the large circular switch. Behind you, a triangular gate allows access to a podium that opens a series of platforms to jump across.

Next, tackle The Vault of Vengeance puzzle. Upon reaching this island, you’ll need the Focused Shot ability from the Spirit skill tree, which is essential for completing the final puzzles. Use an Abyss Artifact to learn this ability if you haven’t yet.

Move the square Abyss Cores to the designated podiums in front of the main door. Use your Focused Shot to hit both glowing yellow switches above the door simultaneously. This raises the door with Nature’s Grasp, allowing you to proceed inside.

Inside, laser beams activate and fill the room. Stay near the entrance and use Focused Shot again to hit the four switches near the ceiling in the back corners. Deactivating the lasers lets you retrieve the sword on the central platform. Picking up the sword causes the platform to lower into a narrow hallway.

Follow the hall and avoid laser patterns until you reach the end. Insert the floating Abyss Core into the socket to activate an elevator that takes you to the surface. There, place the rectangular core into the slot in front of you. This turns on a big circular switch, which you activate with Force Palm to open a new triangular gate. Continue along the new path to the last Abyss puzzle for the Lightning element.

The final challenge is in the Courtyard of Precision. It’s recommended to stock up on regular arrows because hitting multiple targets simultaneously is key. The island is divided into four sections, each containing floating diamond switches that spin in the air. Use Focused Shot to target all yellow switches in each section at once to turn them blue. Complete all four sections of five switches each.

Once all switches turn blue, leap into the center of the island. Press the jump (X on Xbox or Square on PlayStation) button to glide upward through two rings, each with three switches you must target simultaneously. Aim your bow and activate Focused Shot during the ascent for better accuracy. It might take multiple tries, so bring food to regenerate your Spirit and extend your aim.

After activating both sets of switches in the sky, approach the large circular switch on the other side of the island and use Force Palm to activate it. This summons an Abyss Artifact at the foot of the stairs, granting you the Lightning element. You can now switch to this element anytime and activate Lightning Surge by pressing the right trigger plus B (Xbox) or Circle (PlayStation), releasing a shock wave of electricity around you.
