When you start playing Pokémon Pokopia, you’ll notice a PC outside the Pokémon Center early in the game. You can use it to buy items, earn challenge rewards, join multiplayer games, and most importantly, check your Environment Level.
Your Environment Level indicates how well your town is doing. Think of it similar to the island rating system in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is mostly based on the positive changes you’ve made to your town and how happy your Pokémon are. Increasing this level will unlock new challenges, new shop items, and help you progress in the story.
### How to Raise Your Town’s Environment Level
As in Animal Crossing, your Environment Level in Pokémon Pokopia increases when you make positive improvements to the town. However, this system goes beyond just a star rating; it’s more straightforward about what you need to do to rise in level.
To view your Environment Level anytime, interact with the PC. It will display at the top of the screen. If you tap it again, you will see a list of all the Pokémon you’ve caught so far, along with their comfort levels—ranging from Iffy to Great. Ideally, most of your Pokémon should be in the Great category.
You might see small arrows next to some Pokémon. An upward arrow means a recent change helped their happiness, while a downward arrow indicates a change that made them less comfortable. To improve your Environment Level, keep working on creating better habitats and environments for your Pokémon.
### Improving Your Environment
Continuously work on enhancing Pokémon habitats to increase your Environment Level. Interacting with the PC can show your current level, and it provides a list of Pokémon along with their comfort ratings. Keeping as many Pokémon as possible in the Great category is your goal.
Discovering new Pokémon can also help raise your Environment Level. You should build and upgrade habitats where Pokémon can appear, and look for traces of Pokémon—marked as sparkling spots on the ground—that give clues about new habitats. Catching new Pokémon can teach you Transform abilities, like Squirtle’s Water Gun or Bulbasaur’s Leafage, which you can use to improve the environment further.
### Tips for Increasing Your Environment Level
Many habitats can host more than one Pokémon type. Feel free to duplicate habitats to encourage the appearance of different Pokémon. Keep in mind, new Pokémon will not spawn inside habitats already owned by other players.
To boost your Environment Level, focus on restoring moisture to the grass and trees, planting greenery, and building new habitats. Welcoming new Pokémon and enhancing their environment makes a difference. You’ll get notified when your Environment Level is ready to go up, but you need to interact with the PC to trigger the upgrade and claim the rewards.
