The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits has a strong focus on child Sims, introducing a variety of new activities they can enjoy. Kids can now play games like rock, paper, scissors and hide and seek, use new playground equipment, or pick up new hobbies such as archery and kayaking.
To guide children through this exciting childhood, there’s a new three-level aspiration called Cool Kid On The Block. It’s not too difficult, but if you want your Sim to finish it while still a child, there are steps to help you complete it faster.
How to Complete the Cool Kid On The Block Aspiration
This aspiration has three levels, each with several tasks. The key to success is frequent socializing with other children. Here are tips to help:
- Choosing the outgoing trait will help your child make friends more quickly.
- Avoid traits like evil, mean, or loner, as these make building relationships harder.
- Adding conversation topics your child enjoys can make social interactions smoother and keep their needs up.
Note: It’s possible to have your child make friends at school, but keep an eye on their grades as this can lower them.
Level One: Rock Star
Requirements:
- Play rock, paper, scissors for a collectible 5 times
- Win rock, paper, scissors 5 times
- Befriend 3 children
- Reach level 4 in social skill
The trickiest part is playing for collectibles, which involves locating a specific Sim.
How to Play for Collectibles
Find Buddy in Crystal Valley, located at the top right of the map. The closest spots are the Prospector’s Paradise lot or the Fearful Fish Lounge. From facing the lounge’s front, turn left and walk past the building that shows festival info. Cross the stone path, take the right fork toward the abandoned mine, and you’ll find Buddy near the derelict mining building under a makeshift awning, usually arriving around 5 a.m. and staying until late. To play, introduce yourself to Buddy and select “Play for Collectible” from the social menu.
Playing Rock, Paper, Scissors
Children can play with other kids or adults. To do so, click on another Sim, go to social interactions, then choose: Friendly > Activities > Rock, Paper, Scissors. You can play once or in a best-of-three format. To influence the game, set a preference by choosing “Set Rock Paper Scissors Preference” on your own Sim. While your opponent will pick randomly, your choices can be guided.
Making Friends and Building Social Skills
One easy way to boost social skills is to send your child to an outdoor kids’ camp: click on any household Sim’s phone, then select Travel > Plan an Outdoor Kids Camp. You can pick who will attend and include household members, friends you’ve met, or leave the spots open for random campers. Since camp has eight children, it’s a great chance to make new friends and learn social skills faster.
Level Two: Seeking Admiration
Tasks:
- Find 5 hiding Sims during hide and seek
- Trade for 3 new collectibles
- Reach level 8 in social skill
- Win an archery competition
To trade for collectibles, you need to visit Buddy again — if he’s at camp, great; if not, plan your visit afterward.
How to Play Hide and Seek
Click on a Sim, then select Friendly > Activities > Ask to Play Hide and Seek. Pick at least five other Sims to participate. Usually, you will be the seeker, and your Sim will count while others hide. Look for sparkling items like bins or beds at the camp to find hiding Sims, then click on them and choose “Search for Hiding Sims” to reveal them.
How to Trade for Collectibles
Trade collectibles with Buddy via the social menu, but be sure to have some items to trade. Good options include frogs, fish, or harvestables from plants. These can be found or caught at Gibbi Point or elsewhere.
Building Social Skills
Most social skills are easy to level up—your child will likely get there naturally through befriending and chatting. Just talk to anyone on the camp, and friendly interactions will boost skills quickly.
How to Win an Archery Competition
Camp has two archery ranges perfect for this task. It’s best to reach at least level 3 in archery before challenging others. Once ready, click on the target and select “Start Archery Competition With” a Sim. Winning against a single opponent is the easiest way to succeed.
Level Three: Block Champion
Tasks:
- Make a best friend forever (BFF)
- Win 3 competitive games
- Complete any collection
This level is simpler than it sounds, especially with the Entomology skill unlocked.
Make a BFF
Build strong relationships with your friends enough that the option to make a BFF appears in the social menu. If it doesn’t, go to Relationship > Change Relationship to find it.
How to Win Three Games
Keep playing rock, paper, scissors until you’ve won three times, or try hide and seek or archery competitions, which may take longer.
Complete Any Collection
The easiest collection is the Gibbi Point Butterflies and Moths. Catch butterflies and moths in Gibbi Point’s wild areas or incubate the ones you find at home. Purchase Flutterarium Caterpillar Incubators, which cost $15 each, to hatch butterflies quickly. After breeding and gathering all butterflies and moths, reach level 2 in papercraft to craft a Magical Origami Butterfly and place it in a habitat to finish the aspiration. Use the notebook icon to check your progress and see what you already have.
Once completed, this aspiration rewards you with the achievement of unlocking all related collections.
