The desert area in Where Winds Meet is a tough landscape filled with strong windstorms and big enemies that have adapted to survive here. Large bird enemies swoop down from above in groups to attack, and some, like the Skeletal Bloom, can hide beneath the sand, waiting for the right moment to strike.
This sandy region is also home to new wildlife, NPCs, and plants. For example, the Rainbone Flower has a strong connection to the Skeletal Bloom — but beware, it can harm you just as easily as it can help.
How to Find the Rainbone Flower
Rainbone Flowers are usually found at key spots around the desert. They grow near campsites with Utuk Raptors, on climbable trees that hide shiny blue loot, and scattered across villages that look like farms. You can see these flowers at various outposts and landmarks throughout the region.
To locate all the Rainbone Flower clusters, check your inventory for the flowers you’ve picked. Scroll down to the description, select “Gather Rainbone Flowers,” and zoom in on the map to see where else you can go to gather more.
The Rainbone Flower appears most often in the Hexi region of the map.
Attacks from a Rainbone Flower
When approaching Rainbone Flowers, you’ll notice that some are easy to pick, while others might suddenly lunge and attack. These aggressive flowers don’t do much damage per hit, but if you’re surrounded by many, you’ll take many small hits. Some of these flowers are actually Skeletal Blooms in disguise, hiding underground until they move or attack.
You can tell if a Rainbone Flower will attack based on its size and the spines it has. If it begins to shake or move, quickly jump away or prepare to defend yourself when a prompt appears.
The Farm of Rainbone Flowers
The smaller Rainbone Flowers are safe to pick and keep, but they can also be hiding something dangerous. Not all small flowers are true flowers—some are Skeletal Blooms waiting to burst out when they move. You’ll only realize this once they start shifting or attacking.
How to Fight a Skeletal Bloom
Skeletal Blooms can be found wandering in the desert and will attack once you get too close. Most players will encounter at least one when gathering flowers from a cluster of Rainbone Flowers. They come out from underground to attack immediately. Running away is an option, but they aren’t very hard to defeat if you use the right tactics.
Defense is crucial. Skeletal Blooms will pounce and lash with their tails, almost like cats. Their tail whips can cause fire and may even grab and throw you. Be ready to block or dodge when they rear back or spin, and try to stay on their side to avoid their attacks.
Using strong weapons makes fighting Skeletal Blooms easier, especially at higher levels. The Umbrella weapon is particularly effective against them.
