“Where Winds Meet” is filled with numerous side quests tucked away in every part of its large world. Kaifeng City alone has dozens to discover. While exploring, you might find the quest “Lost Chapter One Leaf, One Life,” which involves several groups of residents in the city.
This questline guides you through exploring the city, helping residents with different tasks, and learning about the lives of key characters. Below, you’ll find detailed instructions on how to start the quest and how to complete all three stages.
How To Start One Leaf, One Life
To begin “One Leaf, One Life,” go to the Hopewell Academy Boundary Stone in Keifeng City. There, you’ll see a shop on fire with spectators gathered around. This marks the start of the first part of Phase 1.
The quest is divided into three stages. In each stage, you collect leaves by completing various quests, which unlock the next set of challenges.
Phase 1: Strife In Every Corner
Start by talking to the arguing couple outside their burning shop, then listen to nearby gossip. Next, eavesdrop on a suspicious person and his associates nearby—they’ll share information about an event happening the next day at midday.
After their conversation, speak directly to the stranger and agree to help him. Then, head to Tianjing Dock; use the clock to change time to Wu Hour of the next day. Speak with the Foreman there and follow others to the work site.
Inside, investigate the food situation by examining the corpse outside, then follow the paper trail to the mourners. Listen to their discussion, then go inside to expose the crime. Defeat the four criminals, force Lu San’er to confess, and talk to Zhang Ankang afterward.
Finally, piece together clues to answer questions about the scheme, such as why the diner lasted long or how the bad ingredients got in. After solving the puzzle, watch a few cutscenes to finish this part.
Feast Of Leaves: Volume 1
Travel to the east side of South Gate Avenue where you meet a blind girl with children. After listening to her story, speak with Zheng Ran and follow her home. Talk to her again, then ask neighbors about her father, and report back.
Follow the marker to the Immortal Tree, read the plaque, then chase a thief on the rooftops until he gets tired. Question the nearby boy about the gold leaf and return to Zhou Ergou. Finally, go back to the elder at the tree to complete this segment.
Side Stories for Volume 1
Complete six out of seven side quests to earn white leaves, necessary for progressing the story. These quests involve various tasks, such as rescuing a thief, defeating thugs, or uncovering family secrets. Examples include using Meridian Touch to catch a thief, defeating groups of enemies, or sneaking into buildings to gather clues.
Strife In Every Corner – Final Step
Visit the Elder Host’s home, listen to his dialogue, try to return a coin bag to Zhang Ankang, and finish the quest.
Phase 2: Lights Flicker In Every Home
Begin at Zhang’s Eatery; speak to Liu Xian to discover Zhang Ankang is at Tianjing Dock. Talk to him, follow, and give him the coin bag. Assist Zhang with cooking Locust Leaf Noodles by completing mini-games and examining recipes. Then, visit Hopewell Academy to learn how to fix the recipe, and progress through the storyline involving the Locust Tree, Lu San’er, and some thugs.

Tale Of Gold Leaves: Volume 2
Start at Jiang’s Teahouse by talking to Pinggu Wen and reading a storybook. Then, go to Hopewell Academy to speak with Chen Xuewu, who needs help finding missing students. Locate them in different locations, such as alleys and nearby buildings.
After rescuing the students, follow the trail to sneak into the Patrol and Inspection Agency at night. Use Wind Sense to avoid guards and gather clues from three key pieces of evidence.
Putting these clues together, answer questions about the story: why the leaves go unnoticed, the true identity of the immortal hero, and the real story behind the leaves. Once completed, find Zheng Ran in the eastern town, eavesdrop, speak to Granny Liu, and then meet Zheng Ran at Willow Bank. Use Tai Chi to obtain a leaf and finish this section.
Side Stories for Volume 2
Complete five of seven optional side quests involving local villagers, helping resolve personal issues or uncovering tidbits of city life. Examples involve giving coins, chasing thieves, or solving riddles through mini-games.
Lights Flicker In Every Home – Final
At You Hour, listen to Liu Fen, follow groups to Zheng Ran, and observe her story. Return to Zhang Ankang’s home, help recreate the cooking of Locust Leaf Noodles, and watch the cutscenes to finish this phase.
Phase 3: Huang Liang At Every Hearth
Go to Zheng Ran’s home, eavesdrop on her conversation, then head to the Immortal Tree to listen to Ren Xiaoping. Completing this part earns you the Golden Leaf accessory and the title “Gold Leaf Warrior.”
Side Stories for Phase 3
In this final phase, you can complete all seven side stories to unlock the “One Leaf, One Life” epilogue. These stories include helping to solve mysteries, find lost items, or help characters with personal problems, such as Whispering Lotus Pastry or the Heart Stealer.
To Feast And Forget
Visit Zhang’s Eatery, talk to Zhang and Zheng Ran, and skip to the following day. Attend the feast at Tianjing Dock, defeat groups of thugs in a fight, and enjoy the cutscene to conclude the story.
Huang Liang At Every Hearth
Begin at Zheng Ran’s house, eavesdrop, then listen to her and Granny Liu’s conversation. Revisit the Immortal Tree to hear Ren Xiaoping confirm the story, earning the Gold Leaf accessory and the title of Gold Leaf Warrior.
