In Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, monsters play a vital role beyond just battling; they are essential for recruiting new allies and earning valuable items. Whether you want to strengthen your team with rare creatures using the Entice or Tame skills from the Orator class, or you’re after special gear and trade goods through Poach, it’s important to know where these monsters can be found.
This guide includes a complete list of monster types and their common starting locations on the map and during story battles. Use it to find the monsters you need quickly, whether for completing your party, obtaining rare poachable items, or acquiring powerful equipment for your main characters.
While most monsters can be recruited by finding them in specific battles and using the Entice skill, there’s one exception. It’s much easier to recruit early versions of monsters as they appear in the story, since monsters lay eggs as you explore. These eggs may contain monsters of the same tier or a tier apart. For example, a Chocobo can hatch into a Chocobo or Black Chocobo, and a Black Chocobo can lay eggs of various Chocobo types.
Since traveling the world map without fighting random battles is simple, you can easily recruit a monster and walk around until you find the specific species you need. Below, we’ve listed the best early locations to find one member of each monster family.
