“Pokemon Legends: Z-A” has begun Season 3 of its ranked battles. This is a big event because players can now earn Chesnaught’s Mega Stone, completing the collection of Mega Stones for all Kalos starter Pokémon. Chesnaughtite isn’t the only exciting update this season.
A new Pokémon, Zygarde, is now playable in ranked battles, as it has been made legal. This change also introduces new rules for using legendary Pokémon on teams, which means the battle strategies are likely to change this season.
Ranked Battles Season Three Overview
Season 3 of Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles starts on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, and ends on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Players have until then to earn all the rewards for each rank.
Which Pokémon Can Be Used?
Since the beginning of ranked battles, all Pokémon have been legal except for Zygarde. Even Diancie was added late as a promotional Pokémon. But this season, Zygarde is now allowed, meaning all Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A can be used in battles.
However, there are some rules to keep the game fair. Each team can only have three Pokémon, and no more than one of each species. So, just because Garchomp is legal, you can’t have three Garchomps on your team.
There are also restrictions on legendary and mythical Pokémon. You can use Yveltal, Xerneas, Zygarde, or Diancie, but only one of these four per team. So, if you want to include a legendary or mythical Pokémon, choose the one you think is the best.
All Pokémon will still be set to level 50 during battles, even if they are naturally higher or lower level.
In multi-player matches, you might still face three legendary Pokémon at once, but at least you won’t face the same legendary immediately after knocking one out, thanks to the new rules.
All Season Three Rewards
Rewards are earned simply by participating and ranking up in battles, starting from Z and moving down to A. Each rank offers different prizes, including items like Bottle Caps and Mega Stones.

*Note: If players already own a Mega Stone like Greninjite or Delphoxite from previous seasons, they won’t get a duplicate.
Additionally, every match rewards players with items like EXP or Rare Candies, regardless of whether they rank up. These rewards help level up Pokémon and may be useful for future content, such as the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC.
