The ARC in Arc Raiders consists of several dangerous machines armed with various weapons—machine guns, missiles, energy blasts, electricity, or just crushing opponents with their size. They have already destroyed most of humanity, and anyone left, especially those who go outside like Raiders, must stay alert for their threats continuous. One misstep can result in a Bastion or Bombardier wiping out a group in minutes. Eliminating these enemies is crucial—for Speranza, for humanity, to reclaim the planet, and for the valuable materials they hold.
How to Destroy Bastions and Get Bastion Cells
Bastions are large, tick-shaped ARC machines covered in black-gray armor. They wield a powerful machine gun that can quickly drain your shield and health, even if you’re equipped with medium or heavy gear. Unlike Bombardiers, Bastions don’t bring allies and rely solely on line of sight to spot enemies. Their single weapon is their gun.
It’s wise to first take out smaller enemies nearby, like Wasps and Hornets, since Bastions often have at least one nearby, and the noise from their gunfire can attract them, making fights harder. When engaged, a Bastion will shoot its machine gun at you for several seconds while trying to circle your position if you’re behind cover. If you’re out in the open, it will take a more direct route toward you but generally tries to stay circling around.
Best tactics involve using good cover—such as the rocket parts outside the Rocket Assembly at Spaceport, a building with no windows or ones you can crouch under, or a structure with multiple exits. Be cautious, as ARC enemies can shoot through tiny gaps like windows or machinery gaps.
Start by throwing or deploying explosives like Trigger Nades, Blaze Nades, or Wolfpacks at its main body or back panel to maximize damage. If aimed well or in sufficient quantity (six or more), explosives can often destroy a Bastion outright. When out of explosives, shift to your best weapon with ARC Armor Penetration and aim for the yellow joints in its legs to cripple it. Destroying these joints can hinder its mobility and leave it stunned briefly, giving you opportunities to do free damage.
Damaging the back panel is also effective, though it’s harder unless multiple players work together or you use distraction tools like grenades or electromagnetic storms to stun the enemy. Once enough damage is dealt, the Bastion will explode into debris, which contains materials like ARC Alloy, Circuits, and Gun Parts. Frequently, debris from the main body and legs drops Bastion Cells—about three to four on average, but possibly more with good luck, as smaller debris can also contain them.
Bastion Cells are mainly used to upgrade your Gear Bench to Level III. They can also be sold for 5,000 Credits each or recycled into ARC Alloy and Mechanical Components.
Locations of Bastions include various maps such as Dam Battleground (north of Hydroponic Dome), Buried City (outside the hospital, Piazza Arbusto, outside Town Hall), Spaceport (near Rocket Assembly, between Maintenance and Storage, outside Hangars, launch towers), and The Blue Gate (under tunnels, outside gates, near the Maintenance Bunker). They can spawn on every map in certain spots, with the highest chances at Spaceport, Blue Gate, and Buried City.
Weak points on Bastions and Bombardiers include the yellow joints on all four legs, a canister on the back near the bottom, and a barrel-shaped part hidden behind the canister. These areas have less armor and are easier to damage, especially with weapons that don’t have high ARC Armor Penetration like the Burletta. Destroying the canister exposes a critical inner mechanism that takes heavy damage. Attacking leg joints can disable parts of the legs, thwarting movement, and breaking canister or leg joints stuns it briefly, allowing more damage.
Loot from destroyed Bastions includes materials like Mechanical Powercells, but only the main parts contain Bastion Cells, which can be looted from legs and the main body. Precise aim at the back panel can do more damage but is harder unless multiple teammates distract the enemy or you use stun grenades or EMP effects.
Effective weapons for fights against Bastions and Bombardiers include any weapons with at least Moderate ARC Armor Penetration—such as the Arpeggio, Venator, Renegade, Osprey, Torrente, or Rattler. For the strongest damage, the Heavy Fuse Nades, Explosive Mines, or the Launcher-based Hullcracker are optimal. These explosives are especially effective due to the large size and slow speed of these enemies.
Explosives are best for flooding damage because of their wide blast and ease of use. The Wolfpack, Trigger Nades, Blaze Grenades, and Snap Nades are all suitable options. The Osprey can also be useful to snipe enemies from a distance, although the enemy’s range and accuracy mean it can hit you just as easily if you’re not in cover.
To maximize damage, bringing along items like numerous Shield Rechargers, Bandages, Adrenaline Shots, and possibly Defibrillators is important when facing these enemies. At least medium shields are recommended for better protection, and augmented gear like Tactical MK. 2 can help by dropping smoke grenades upon shield break.
Summary: Use explosives to capitalize on their slow movements and large size, target weak points with weapons that have sufficient armor penetration, and utilize cover and distractions to keep safe during encounters.
