While Duet Night Abyss removed its character and weapon gacha before launch, it was still built as a gacha game. This means it includes the usual grind you find in most gacha titles. Like other games in this genre, you can make the grinding process easier by using the battle pass.
The game’s battle pass is called the Bard’s Tome, and you can unlock it fairly early. Each battle pass lasts about four weeks, which is the same amount of time it takes for a new character to arrive. This means you can earn fresh rewards regularly. Luckily, leveling up the Bard’s Tome is straightforward.
How to Unlock Bard’s Tome
Before you start progressing through the battle pass and earning its rewards, you need to unlock it by advancing through a good part of the main story. First, you’ll go through the prologue, where you meet Sibylle’s character with Berenica. After that, you’ll find yourself at the Icelake area. In Icelake, Camilla will help you get into the main city and tell you to meet Henrik to find a place to stay.
After you speak with Henrik, Psyche will be introduced. She’ll convince Henrik to let you stay at the sanctuary. Once inside and after chatting with Psyche for a bit, the battle pass along with other features like Events, Mail, and Beginner Tasks will unlock. You can access the battle pass by pressing F2 on your PC or clicking its icon at the top right of the screen.
How to Level Up Bard’s Tome
Similar to many other gacha game battle passes, Bard’s Tome has up to 50 levels that you can progress through over time. There are two main ways to gain experience points (EXP) for leveling up:
- Completing daily, weekly, and seasonal inspirations in the Bardic Inspiration section. Daily and weekly inspirations reset regularly, while seasonal ones last the entire duration of the battle pass.
- You can also get 5,000 Stanza (EXP) if you purchase the Collector’s Edition of the battle pass. That amount is enough to level up ten times.
If you play often, completing the daily and weekly tasks shouldn’t be a problem since they generally involve activities you’re already doing. Still, it’s a good idea to check whether you’ve finished these tasks before they reset each day or week to maximize your progress.
Is the Hardcover Edition Worth It?
Outside of the free rewards from the normal battle pass, Duet Night Abyss offers a premium tier that can be unlocked after buying the Hardcover Edition with real money. The Hardcover Edition costs around ten dollars, while the Collector’s Edition is about twenty dollars. Purchasing it grants you three times the rewards compared to the free tier, making it worthwhile if you’re willing to spend a bit.
Buying this edition significantly reduces the amount of grind needed. The main perk of the Hardcover Edition is access to a special Geniemon, which you can choose after reaching level 30. These creatures are used in battles to give your characters powerful buffs, and you select one from six Geniemons, each of which is associated with a specific element.
Some Geniemons are more useful than others. For example, if you’re using Sibylle, getting the Electro Geniemon isn’t very helpful because her strength depends on her HP, not ATK.
Besides the extra rewards like Phoxene and the additional ten levels, the main incentive for buying the Hardcover Edition is a unique cosmetic skin for your characters. After purchasing it, you can choose a special skin for any one of your characters.
