As you explore different regions after the tutorial in Grounded 2, you’ll notice many resources. However, early in the game, access to some of these resources is limited because they require specific tools like Omni-Tools, and Acorns are a good example of this.
Acorn Tops, Shells, and Bits are some of the most crucial materials in the game. You’ll frequently need them to craft essential items such as chests, water containers, and turrets. Collecting these can be tricky unless you know how to do it properly.
Grounded 2 is currently in Early Access, so things may change as updates come out.
### How to Find Acorn Tops, Bits, and Shells
You can find Acorns by breaking them from trees on the map. They are scattered in various areas and are fairly common early on. To break Acorns, you need an Omni-Hammer, which you can craft after progressing enough in the main story.
To get the Omni-Hammer, continue playing until you reach the first Ranger Outpost. Inside, you’ll see the Omni-Axe on the right when you enter, and ahead is a machine where you can craft an Omni-Hammer using some Pebbles, Sap, and Raw Science—resources you should have acquired by then.
You can gather Pebbles from the ground and Sap from trees, making it easy to collect these ingredients. Raw Science can be earned by completing tasks or found in select areas.
Once you have the first tier of the Omni-Hammer, approach an Acorn and use the hammer to break it open. Each Acorn will always give you an Acorn Shell, but the Bits and Tops are assigned randomly.
### Where to Find Acorns
The best spot to farm Acorns repeatedly is the Entrance area, located just below the starting point in the tutorial. This area has many large trees with roots spreading over the ground, and Acorns often drop near these roots.
Be aware that some Acorns may be guarded by spider nests or other enemies, so proceed with caution. As you advance in the story, you can also use your scanner to mark all nearby Acorn locations for easier gathering.
