In Metroid Prime 4, Green Energy Crystals are an important resource with a few unique aspects. These crystals are mainly found in the Sol Valley area and are essential for upgrading Samus and progressing in the story.
You can reliably gather Green Energy Crystals from several spots around Sol Valley. As you travel through the desert area on your motorcycle, hitting these crystals will help you collect them early on—it’s a good habit to get into since you’ll need plenty for the endgame. Once you’ve collected enough, you’ll unlock a special radar that helps locate more crystals during your exploration, marked on your HUD’s top left corner.
There are also larger deposits hidden in the map, which require an upgraded Morph Ball Bomb to access. These look like big boulders and are usually found in out-of-the-way places like high ridges or far corners. When you get the bomb upgrade later in the game, you can blast these boulders to get additional crystals.
Small crystal deposits are scattered throughout Sol Valley, especially when using the Vi-O-La motorcycle—just smash them to gather more. Additionally, micro-dungeons marked with purple icons contain chests filled with crystals, which provide a quick boost when opened.
Green Energy Crystals play two main roles in the game. First, they are used to upgrade Samus, making her weapons more powerful and unlocking helpful rewards, like the crystal radar. Second, you’ll need to deposit a certain amount of crystals at Fury Green, your main base, to open story-related gates and move forward in the game. By collecting crystals steadily, you’ll have enough to finish the story without needing to grind at the last minute.
In summary, gathering Green Energy Crystals early and often is key to making your journey smoother and helping you reach the final stages of Metroid Prime 4.
