Crimson Desert developers intentionally designed the game to gradually introduce players to its world, which can make early gameplay feel a bit slow. After the prologue, you’re free to explore the map, but you’ll encounter many areas and objects you can’t interact with yet.
One example of this is the sanctums scattered across the world. When you approach them, a message from the witch will tell you that you’re not ready to enter. The Sanctum of Absolution is one of the first four sanctums that become accessible, and here’s how to cleanse it.
The Sanctum of Absolution is located toward the southwestern edge of the map, quite a distance from the main city of Hernand where you start after the prologue. It’s best to look for it after completing the Reed Devil main quest in the third chapter. This quest takes you to the southwestern part of the map, starting from Reedwind Valley. You should travel west to find a teleport point on a mountain, then head north until you find the sanctum. At first, you won’t be able to do anything there; you’ll need to wait until you meet the witch of wisdom.
To cleanse the sanctum, you’ll need to defeat enemies until the progress bar drops to zero. Then, you’ll face a powerful boss called Antumbra’s Sword. After defeating the boss, activate the main mechanism near the northern side of the sanctum to begin the cleansing process. You’ll need to find a broken pillar piece inside nearby ruins and a cube that fits into the hollow center of a structure. The pillar piece can be retrieved by entering the ruins next to the main mechanism.
When inside the ruins, go into the room on your left. Use the Axiom Force ability to bring the pillar back to the mechanism. The cube can be found on the opposite side of the ruins, near the area where you battle Antumbra’s Sword. Be cautious of traps beneath the holes in the ground, and break jars along the way to uncover the cube.
Use the Axiom Force to move both the pillar part and the cube to their respective spots near the main mechanism. Once in position, use Force Palm to place them correctly and activate the structure. When the leaves around the mechanism turn green, the sanctum has been successfully cleansed.
