PlantSims have been available in The Sims 4 for some time, but the Enchanted by Nature expansion notably expanded their possibilities. Before, becoming a PlantSim was mostly a challenge—either achieved by reaching high Gardening skill or by using cheats. Now, transitioning into a PlantSim is much easier.
Once you become a PlantSim, your needs will slightly change. However, this status only lasts a few days before you revert to your regular self. Here’s everything you need to know about turning into a PlantSim in The Sims 4.
What Are PlantSims?
PlantSims are a hybrid between humans and plants, recognizable by their green skin, hair, and features. They are a temporary state that transforms your Sim from a normal human into a plant-like being.
Originally introduced during a spring event in 2017, you could only access PlantSims through cheats or by mastering the Gardening skill to level ten.
Tip: To cheat your way into a PlantSim, activate testing cheats by typing testingcheats true
in the cheat console, then shift-click your Sim and select “Make Into PlantSim” from the menu.
How to Turn Into a PlantSim
To become a PlantSim legitimately, you’ll need to acquire the Magic PlantSim Stump from Build mode, which requires reaching level ten in Gardening. Then, open rare seed packs in search of the six seeds needed for the stump. Once you have all six, plant them in the stump and have a high-level gardener tend to it until it blooms into a portal. Step into the portal and you’ll receive a Forbidden Fruit.
If you have the Enchanted by Nature expansion, you can also see PlantSims wandering around Innisgreen along with fairies and other magical creatures. You can ask a PlantSim for a Forbidden Fruit, which they seem willing to give regardless of your relationship.
For immediate transformation, you can eat a Forbidden Fruit directly from your inventory. Alternatively, you could plant Forbidden Fruit to grow more and have a steady supply for a longer-term stay as a PlantSim.
Remember, this transformation is only temporary and lasts about five days in the game.
What Changes When You’re a PlantSim?
When transformed, two of your motives change in the Needs panel. Water replaces the usual Bladder need, and Hunger is now fulfilled by sunlight, similar to how plants photosynthesize.
Warning: If a PlantSim’s water need is ignored and they dry out, their hair turns gray and moodlets will warn you to hydrate them before they wither away.
You also gain access to unique social interactions, such as chatting with plants to boost your Social motive. With the Enchanted by Nature expansion, you can cast the Green Meanie curse on other Sims, make nearby plants bloom, or even refresh a PlantSim’s life force to extend their stay in this form.
