Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – Boss Fight Guide
Early in the game, you’ll face a tough boss called Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu. This boss is challenging and starts off difficult from the first fight. She moves quickly and attacks aggressively, so you’ll need good dodging and blocking skills.
If you’re having trouble beating her, we’re here to explain her moves and give you tips on how to win. Here’s what you need to know about defeating Lu Hongliu in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
Lu Hongliu’s Move Set
Lu Hongliu has two main phases, but her attacks can generally be categorized into three types:
- Claw Attacks
- Bite Attacks
- Corruption Attacks
During the fight, she switches between claw moves, bites, and projectile-based corruption attacks. You’ll need to dodge carefully as she uses all of these tactics.
Choosing the right weapon can make the fight easier. Fast weapons are better for this battle. Heavy weapons like axes are less effective because Lu Hongliu is quick and agile.
Phase One
In the first phase, Lu Hongliu performs a series of different moves she cycles through:
Move | Details |
---|---|
Charge Attack |
Lu Hongliu will wind up and rush across the arena. You can dodge this easily by moving out of her way. |
Standing Claw Attack |
She stands tall and swings her claws multiple times. Time your dodge to avoid her claws and gain Skyborn Might. ADVERTISEMENT |
Leap |
Lu Hongliu jumps directly on top of you. Dodging at the right moment is key to avoiding damage. |
Corruption Spew |
She tilts back and spews blood across the field. Step back to stay out of reach. |
Bite |
If she knocks you down or stays close after claw attacks, she will try to bite you. Dodging this is crucial to avoid heavy damage. |
Phase Two
In the second phase, Lu Hongliu keeps her original moves and adds new ones:
At the start of this phase, she stumbles and seems weak. Wait for her to sit still for a moment before attacking. This is a good chance to land quick hits or cast spells for extra damage.
Move | Details |
---|---|
Standing Double Claws |
Her claw attacks last twice as long. Be cautious before attacking. |
Jump |
She sometimes leaps straight into the air. Dodge in time and circle around to follow up. |
Extended Corruption Spew |
Her corruption attack covers a longer distance. Back away or run in circles to avoid it. |
How To Defeat Lu Hongliu
The key to beating Lu Hongliu is mastering your dodges.
You can’t block or parry her attacks, but you can dodge every single one. The best time to dodge is right before she strikes.
After dodging, quickly counterattack with light hits to build Skyborn Might or cast spells. Here’s a simple routine:
- Dodge – Dodge diagonally to her rear during her attacks.
- Follow-up attack – After dodging, hit her with two quick strikes. Sometimes a third is possible but risky.
- Use ranged spells – When she spews corruption, step back and attack from afar.
If you have spells that cause conditions like burning, use them to deal damage over time.
Understanding her movements and attack patterns is crucial. She’s quick, so avoid heavy hits and focus on timing your dodges and attacks.
Remember to carry items to clear corruption in case she hits you with her spew.
Take your time. Dodge her attacks, land small hits when safe, and use spells from a distance. Patience and rhythm will help you chip away her defenses.
Best Times To Attack
Some attacks are easier to counter and follow up on:
- Charge Attack – When Lu Hongliu rushes toward you, she’s just closing the gap. Attack after she finishes the charge.
- Leap – Her leap is predictable. Dodge and circle around her for a follow-up.
- Jump – In phase two, her jump is telegraphed, making it easy to dodge and counter.
- Corruption Spew – Long-range spells work well when she fires her corruption attack.
The Ming Armor set is recommended gear for this fight because of its defense and durability.
