Since the game covers multiple years for each season, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar features several festivals you can participate in year-round, marked with a green flag on your house calendar. Each festival has its own unique way of functioning.
While some festivals are just for fun or socializing with town residents, others are more competitive, giving you tangible results for your efforts so far. Most of these can be won fairly easily once you’re familiar with the mechanics.
Complete Spring Festivals Guide
In spring, the game kicks off with a long period to allow you to get used to the mechanics – the first week has no festivals scheduled. During the first spring, there are three festivals: the Flower Festival, Honey Day, and Tea Party. Here’s what you need to know about each:
Flower Festival Guide
The Flower Festival takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday of the second full week in spring. It doesn’t necessarily last the full two days, and as it’s an ongoing event, the festival time skips to 4 pm regardless of when you start. Your task is to gift flowers to as many town residents as possible. You should gather Toy Flowers, Moondrop Flowers, and Magic Blue Flowers from around the map — they spawn in various locations, especially near your farm or in the town’s lower areas. On the festival day, you can start giving flowers after noon.
Most festivals cut off around 4 pm, but the Flower Festival allows you to skip only about ten minutes once you start it by talking to the mayor. When the festival begins, give flowers to everyone present in the plaza and nearby homes, then go about your day until Wednesday. Just before noon on the second day, revisit the plaza to give flowers again and speak with the mayor for the result.
Honey Day Guide
A week after the Flower Festival, Honey Day occurs, which is more of a friendly day than a festival. It’s a time to give honey to people you appreciate, earning you some friendship points. Giving a honey counts as a unique gift, meaning you can give them another gift they like afterward. For a big boost, you can bake Honey Cakes using wheat flour, eggs, and honey. You get the honey recipe from the mayor, who will share it the day before the festival.
Tea Party Guide
This takes place on Thursday after Honey Day. You bring any type of tea — whether leaves or canned — to the plaza between 12 pm and just before 4 pm. To start, talk to the mayor when you arrive with your tea. Once the festival begins, you’ll receive a reward, often a food item, at the end. Unlike the other spring festivals, this one skips straight to 4 pm no matter when you start it, so late in the window is best for saving time.
Summer Festivals Guide
Summer is a bit atypical. It has no exclusive festivals, but four recurring events occur: the Animal Show, Crops Show, Pet Show, and Horse Derby.
Pet Show Guide
Starting on the first day of summer, you’ll meet Ramon, who introduces the Pet Show. During the event, held on Friday of the second full week of each month, you can participate by bringing your pet. You can choose from three cats (or other pets). The event runs from noon to 4 pm at the town plaza. Success depends heavily on your bond with your pet, which is limited early on. You need to talk to Woofie at the plaza, then select commands carefully, pressing buttons in order. You won’t likely win on your first try until your bond is stronger, but the event will be available again in winter.
Animal Show Guide
Another monthly event, taking place on the second Friday of each month, also from noon to 4 pm. This involves your farm animals rather than pets, testing the bond you’ve built with them. You choose which animal to enter and let the contest proceed without commands. Winning awards in this event boosts the quality and sales value of products of that animal.
Horse Derby Guide
Held twice a year in summer and winter, on Wednesday of the middle week of those seasons. Ramon provides you with a horse two days before. The event involves riding the horse to clear obstacles and collect carrots to keep stamina up — the more carrots, the longer your horse can run. You race against other competitors for high scores. Winning each tier (Bronze, Silver, Gold) with a certain horse type unlocks benefits like higher-quality products and increased sales.
Crops Show Guide
On the last or second last Monday of each month, the Crops Show takes place. The goal is to showcase your best crops, judged by Matsuba. Bringing your highest quality, most recent harvest gives you the best chance to win. The competition has tiers for each crop type, with higher tiers realized by winning the earlier tier (Bronze). Upgrading your storage helps keep your crops fresh longer, increasing your chances of winning.
Autumn Festivals Guide
Autumn introduces new festivals along with regular ones, such as Cook-Off, Bake-Off, Juice Festival, and Pumpkin Festival.
Cook-Off & Bake-Off Guides
These happen on Monday and Tuesday respectively, right at the start of autumn. You’ll get instructions from the mayor beforehand. They involve preparing your most complex dishes using multiple ingredients and cooking processes. These festivals run from noon to 4 pm and don’t have tiers. Crafting the most complicated and unique dishes with special ingredients increases your chances to win.
Juice Festival Guide
Held after the Pumpkin Festival, participants bring juices, usually supplied by the mayor initially. Similar to the Tea Party, it takes place between noon and 4 pm. Simply bringing any juice, like grape juice, qualifies you to participate and can earn you small gifts and friendship points.
Pumpkin Festival Guide
On the last week of autumn, this Halloween-themed event involves children visiting houses seeking treats. There are 3–4 children, depending on your progress. When children enter your house, give them treats like cookies (made from eggs and wheat flour). Make all children happy to receive a mail reward the next day.
Winter Festivals Guide
Winter is a busy month, full of celebrations and exclusive festivals.
Hearth Day Guide
On the day of Hearth Day, which coincides with the Pumpkin Festival, you gift warm dishes (found in your recipe descriptions) to residents throughout the town during the day. Recipients appreciate the warmth, and you receive a dish in return, though it can’t be reused endlessly. The mayor supplies a few Hot Pots initially.
Starlight Night Guide
On the last Thursday of winter, you get an opportunity for a romantic outing. Invite your favorite character, who will schedule a date. On the designated night, meet them at the specified location for a short scene that boosts your friendship points. Be sure to finish your daily chores earlier, as afterward you’ll head straight to bed.
New Year’s Countdown
The final festival of the year happens on New Year’s Eve after 10 pm, leading into the next year. Meet everyone at the town plaza to watch a celebratory cutscene. Afterward, you automatically go to sleep, marking the start of a new season.
