There are many Machines in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, including the 23 default characters and Rival Teams waiting for you in Race Park. If you want an extra speed boost, try adding the Blue Star to your Customize Machine menu.
To get the Blue Star, you need to create a Sega account before a specific deadline. This hoverboard is a classic Sonic item from other racing games and is quite powerful. Here’s how to unlock Sonic’s Blue Star board.
How Do You Get The Blue Star?
Create and Link a Sega Account
If you want to add the Blue Star hoverboard, you’ll find many options through DLC and game promotions. However, the Blue Star, which was Sonic’s Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders, is available for a limited time. To unlock it, you must:
- Create a Sega account between September 21 and October 31, 2025.
- Signing up for a Sega account is free. Sega often runs special promotions linked to new game releases, where you can earn rewards.
Once you have an account, you can claim the Blue Star by following these steps:
- Visit the Sega Account website.
- Scroll past the banner and click “Register” below the Sonic images.
- Fill in your country and age info. Minors should be on a Family Account with an adult.
- Enter an email address, then check your email for the verification code.
- Verify your email, then fill out your birth date, country, language, name, and a username. Your username can be seen by others.
- Review everything, then click “Register.”
- Link your account to your game console. Keep in mind, one console can only be linked to one account—so if others play on it, decide whose account to use.
- Sign into your console’s login service with your Sega account details to complete the connection.
Claiming and Using the Blue Star
After signing up, confirm your platform on the Sega site, and a unique code will be generated for your account and platform. This code can only be claimed once per account.
To claim the Blue Star in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds:
- Go to your platform’s store where you redeem game codes (such as PlayStation Store).
- Enter the code as if you’re redeeming a game.
- After redeeming, launch Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The Blue Star will show up as downloadable content.
How To Use The Blue Star In The Game
After downloading, the Blue Star won’t automatically appear in your Machine list. You need to:
- Go to the Customize Machine menu.
- Create a new Machine and select the Blue Star Extreme Gear from the Boost category.
- Paint it with the Blue Star colorway, which is also added when you download the board.
