At the end of Life Is Strange: Reunion, Chloe and Max have a conversation backstage after a concert. They then leave the venue before the credits start, and a photo montage plays, showing what happens to the two characters after the game’s story ends.
The specific photos in this montage and what occurs during Chloe and Max’s talk depend on your choices and actions throughout the game. Here’s a guide to all possible endings and how to achieve each one.
What Affects the Endings
One main factor influencing the ending is whether you manage to save everyone during the game. You can try to save Safi, Jeannette, Owen, Loretta, Vinh, Noelle, Anthony, and some other students. While it’s possible to save most of them from the fire at the Observatory, Safi and Vinh need to be saved from their own issues — and this guide explains how to do that. If even one of them dies, it changes which endings you can unlock.
Another important choice is made during the final scene called “Partners In Time.” As Chloe, you find a letter from Moses with a photo Max took before the fire. You get to choose whether to give this photo to Max or burn it. This decision heavily impacts the ending.
Fail to Save Everyone & Burn the Photo
If you are unable to save everyone and decide to burn the photo, Max will never realize she could’ve gone back to save everyone. As a result, she won’t feel much guilt and appears happy with Chloe.
The ending montage shows Chloe and Max returning to Arcadia Bay, visiting the junkyard, and seeing Joyce again. This isn’t the best ending since someone dies, but it provides a heartfelt conclusion where Chloe and Max stay together.
Fail to Save Everyone & Give Max the Photo
If you don’t save everyone and instead give Max the photo to go back, she is presented with the chance to prevent the fire again. Chloe worries Max might disappear if she keeps trying to change things.
Based on the ending, Max initially resists going back but can’t help herself, so she tries again. It’s claimed that she does attempt to save everyone, but whether she succeeds isn’t shown clearly. The final scene reveals that Chloe is alone again, but Max finds another version of Chloe and they embrace.
This ending isn’t outright bad, but it’s bittersweet. Because Max’s interference with time can cause problems, and Chloe misses her, it’s not a perfect conclusion.
Save Everyone & Burn the Photo
If you save all the characters and choose to burn the photo, Max and Chloe end up together, sitting on a bench. The final montage remains similar: they return to Arcadia Bay and see Joyce again.
However, since everyone survived, the emotional impact is softer. It feels less significant because no one was lost, and it’s just a matter of keeping a secret from Max. Still, it’s a good ending for the pair.
Save Everyone & Give Max the Photo
If you save everyone and give Max the photo, she gets the chance to go back and fix things. Chloe worries she might lose Max if she hands over the photo again, but she does so anyway.
The ending cutscene shows Max initially resisting, but ultimately she chooses not to go back. The final scene depicts Max ready to burn the photo, symbolizing her decision to move forward without interfering. This ending is often considered the “best” or most positive because it signifies her letting go of the past. It’s a fitting way to conclude her story, although Max and Chloe don’t return to Arcadia Bay in this version.
All choices in the game influence these outcomes, shaping how the story ends for Chloe and Max.
