Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has officially launched, offering new multiplayer, zombie, and story campaign content. While the series is mainly known for multiplayer and zombie modes, some players might consider buying this game just for the campaign experience.
If you’re unsure whether spending $70 is worth it just to play the story, here’s what you need to know: how long it takes to finish, what missions are included, and what content is available after the story ends.
### How Long Is the Campaign?
During my playthrough of Black Ops 7’s campaign, it took approximately 8-9 hours to complete from start to finish. Keep in mind, the campaign was mainly designed to be played with a team of three other players, so playing with friends could significantly shorten this time. Having teammates to focus fire on enemies makes clearing levels much easier, especially since many enemies can take a lot of damage before going down.
If you prefer to play solo, don’t worry. Every main mission and collectible can be completed on your own. Some sections, particularly near the end, might be a bit more challenging—especially when puzzles require others to cover you. You can also choose to play with random players if you want to speed through the story.
The campaign features a total of 11 missions:
– Exposure
– Inside
– Distortion
– Escalation
– Disruption
– Collapse
– Fracture
– Quarantine
– Suppression
– Breakpoint
– Containment
The structure combines classic, linear missions with some open-world sections set on Avalon. These open areas let you explore with your squad and are good for leveling up weapons, finding side objectives, or just wandering around. If you’re in a hurry, you can bypass these sections quickly.
### Post-Story Content
After watching the credits, you can access the Endgame mode, which supports up to 32 players divided into teams of four. In this mode, players drop into Avalon, which is fully explorable. You undertake missions, earn experience points, unlock new items, and progress through the game. The twist is that if you die, your progress isn’t carried over—so it’s a survival-style experience similar to PvE-only extraction shooters, as you can’t kill other users.
While the campaign has 11 main story missions, the Endgame mode focuses on what happens after the campaign concludes, providing a different type of experience for players interested in multiplayer survival and exploration.
